Good morning everyone!

I need a little help in determining when to send out the invites and when to set the RSVP...

I am getting married on May 9th and leaving for Jamaica on May 5th.

Should I send out the invites in early November or wait a little longer? Also, should I set the RSVP by February 1st or March 1st.

I did send out STDs with TA info, but people seem to not remember? Plus we have a website with all the info on it, but same as with the STD, they call us for the TA info. The invites would have an enclosure with the TA and website info AGAIN!!!

Thanks for your input!

Our wedding was April 19. We sent out invites in mid-October, asking for RSVP's before Thanksgiving (knowing many people would forget if we spread the RSVP date out until the next year). So then, January 1, I reminded people that Jan 15 was our absolute LATEST RSVP allowed, based on firming up rates and plans with our TA (the date was really FEB 15, but we knew we'd still have stragglers).

I would check with your TA (if you are using one) and see when they need absolute FINAL numbers -- and put the RSVP as one month prior to that so you can track down the slackers.

But definitely send the invites out sooner rather than later.

We did STD's also but only about a dozen people took them to heart and went to our wedding website for info and decided to be pro-active.

I created my own save the dates and sent them out 10 months in advance - I wrote a letter on beach stationary that I got from staples and enclosed a brochure from the resort - they resort will send you as many as you want if you request them.

About a month before the wedding I sent our formal invitations that were a message in a bottle to people only that were booked already.

We're getting married in April and we sent our invites (didnt do STD's) with all of the travel info the first week of August. Im still waiting for 1/3 of the RSVP's to come back and the reply date was Sept 15. Some people just emailed me to tell me their intentions and that was fine by me. It's the people, my so-called friends and family that have yet to send the RSVP back, email or even phone me... Ooops! Sorry went off on a bit of a tangent there...

Moral of the story = best to send out STD, invites, other info well in advance.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
