Is this weird?

Part of me says it is, part of me says don't let it bother me.

This is difficult - you are asking him to attend a destination wedding where he will have to pay $$$ to be there - he probably thinks why not do my proposal at this 'fairytale' location

BUT

This is your wedding and you deserve the spotlight. I would not be impressed either.

What does your FI say? Did your BM ask you or just tell you?

This is a hard one - I can see both sides, but this is your wedding and an engagement is a huge thing.

I would ask my FI to have your BM refrain - at least till the end of the week for a compromisehuh.gif

Good Luck

Ok I'm in the minority too and I'm pretty laid back towards most stuff so my view is a given I suppose. :)

We celebrated my mom's bday during our wedding week (it was her 50th) and I actually secretly hoped that our wedding would inspire our BM to propose to his long time girlfriend- no dice. To be honest, no one will care. As you said, no one knows them but you and Joe so I doubt they are going to go around flaunting their engagement and sharing it with everyone. I'm sure it will be a more quiet affair and they will probably sneak off to dark corners. Just watch- they will find the bed at LC. :)

Honestly Tara, you will see that in the end this won't even be something you think about months/years later. Don't let a tiny thing like this stress you out.

Plus I think it's kinda cute that when you attend THEIR wedding, they will probably mention how it all came about at your wedding. Then you can announce your baby. hahahaha

You ladies bring up a going point. Her engagement should be about her! But I know she's been wanting this ring for a VERY long time and she will be so happy to be engaged. So if he proposes in Mexico, good for him! As long as he doesn't propose as I walk down the isle, I'm good rolleyes.gif

ha rachel, we must have posted at the same time! and i totally agree with you!

My brother-in-law proposed to my sister the night of my first wedding. It was no big deal to me but I can understand where other people would feel differently. I don't feel like it is stealing your thunder and I'm sure BM totally hasn't even thought about that at all. It is a romantic location to do it so it's understandable that he'd want to. I would MAKE SURE that he knows not to do it before the wedding though.

IMO that's awesome! A lot of people get engaged on vacations, I think it's romantic :) And I agree with Rachel, it doesn't matter and it won't matter to you down the line either. If the girl is bothered by it happening during your wedding week that's a little self centered of her...well I think so anyway. Who cares when it happens, a proposal is a proposal. Good for them!

Now stop overthinking it!! LOL

wow, I guess I'm in the minority in that it wouldn't bug me at all.

With the caveat that hopefully they would do it privately (like have their own dinner together one night) and then not make a big production out of it.

On our wedding week, though we didn't have alot of people, one couple pretty much did their own thing for the most of the week (as they had their daughter with them) and it really didn't bother me at all.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
