Gran Bahia Principe Mayan Riviera

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. I really need help. Us and all of our guests are already booked for our DW in April 2009. We are all staying at the Akumal section in the resort. I just found out that I can't get married in the gazebo because it is in on the Tulum side of the resort. This is the reason that I choose this resort because I loved the gazebo. Does anyone know if this is true or not? Really don't know what to do now. smile41.gif

I have called the resort a long time ago but ended hanging up the phone because they didn't understand who I wanted to talk to. The email that I got just after we booked didn't give me an option for the weding location, it only said that wedding location would be assigned after arrival. I am going to try and get a hold of Paloma and see what she says. Hopefuly we can figure this out because it is the main reason I choose this resort.

Hello :)

I am also getting married at this resort in April of 2009, and I'm staying on the Tulum side. I was told by both Paloma and Jazmin that you must get married on the side where you are staying. I really didn't press the issue though, so they may be able to make an exception for you, it can't hurt to ask! Good luck!

Is makes me mad because when we booked nothing was ever mentioned about the gazebo being part of the Tulum side and I was never given an option. The only way I have heard of this is through the Forum. Only thing that was in one email said that wedding location would be decided upon arrival. I have my TA lookung into it for us

I wish you luck. All I can say is that I got married at the Akumal side and it was amazing, but there was no way they'd let me get married at the Tulum side. The problem is that they have 2-3 weddings a day per side of the resort, so there is really no way that they can get another wedding in.

Good luck.

  • 3 weeks later...

I called my TA with our concern and she contacted the tour company letting them know that the corrispondance from the resort has been very vauge and this is what has caused the problem. In my the first EMAIL that I sent to the resort (before even booking the trip) I requested a 3pm ceramony at the gazebo, the responce I got was here are the dates and time avalible. That was it, one sentance, nothing stating that we had to stay in the Tulum section of the resort. We wouldn't have even know if it wasn't for this forum.

Our TA called us yesterday and said that they would make an exception but we would have to get married at noon, there couldn't be a worse time than that. Ya we could have the gazebo but its in the heat of the day,the reception wouldn't be till 7pm and I only wanted to hire the photographer for 5 hrs so then there's no chance of sunset pictures or having her for part of the reception.

We don't even know if we can have the pool reception because they won't get back to us. Who knows it could all ready be booked.

Sorry if this goes on and on but I am very frustrated with everything and how they handle things

These are the options we are deciding from:

1. Canceling everything and paying for everyones non refundable deposits.

2. Switching resorts.

3. Hirring a wedding coordinator and having our wedding some place else.

4. Having the ceramony there and go into playa or cancun for the reception.

I am SOOOOOO upset its supposed to be our special day and I just don't know what to do

Another silly thing is that they do so many wedding a day and they only have one disco. So then your going to have 3 to 6 brides and there guests having there dance there. Doesn't sound very special to me.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
