Well between the letter from Kevin the VP and this call I think it shows that they are finally starting to get organized and handle this the proper way. It's too bad they didn't do both these actions a week and a half ago! It's good to know that they are working so hard to keep your group together.

Keep your chins up ladies! Dreams Tulum is a great resort but there are lots of other equally great resorts out there. In my review I even mention how I thought the resort was awesome and we all loved it but that that didn't mean that I made the right choice and chose the best possible resort - in fact I think there was others that could have been better.

Really, your wedding is what you make of it, and the resort is just what's in the background. Keep focused on what's important. Your wedding can be equally as wonderful at any of the other awesome resorts in Cancun / Mayan Riviera

Great to get another response from that VP, Kevin as well. A lot of the same information but he seems to definitely hear the specifics of our concerns.

Glad they're reaching out to you girls regarding your 10/27 and 11/1 wedding, Carina and Mel. Thanks for keeping us posted. It WILL work out. At least they are forward looking by a few weeks - not one week ahead of time!! that's a lot of cramming!

Okay, so here's what I just got from my TA..who is actually down on a site visit in the RM....

"Laura,

At this moment, Apple Vacations has moved all guests that are arriving to DT through a November 12th arrival date. Barcelo Maya Palace is one of the properties where they have moved guests. While they are telling me they anticipate resolution and reopening of Dreams Tulum by October 15th, its more of a waiting game right now."

Nov. 15th!!!!!!! I am assuming for now that is just brides who booked with Apple Vacations, but hopefully some other forum TA that work with Apple can confirm or deny this??

Wow mid-Nov? Yikes. Sounds like they're just trying to be overly cautious to cover their a*s a bit. I'm sure its been nuts for them trying to handle all this legal stuff and try to keep all their guests and brides settled too.

Did you guys see these pics of Barcelo? Looks pretty gorgeous!

Hey Everyone,

Just wanted to pass on what I heard from my TA yesterday. Some of my guests are calling her now to reserve their rooms (we're using Apple) for my June 27, 2009 wedding. What she told me yesterday was that when she goes into the inventory for the hotel, the inventory shows that they are not booking rooms in the Dreams section, only the Hacienda section. According to Noticaribe.com, the Dreams section is the one in question with the permits (something about permits to build 150 rooms, but they actually built 430). According to the paper, if they lose this legal battle they will have to return the land to its original condition, which would mean that they would be tearing down the excess Dreams room. I know this isn't really any help to those of you getting married in the next few months, but just in case there are other 2009 brides on here trying to get some information, I thought I would put this out there. I am hoping right now that our "worst case" is having to stay in the Hacienda section if the Dreams section is shut down. Have faith ladies, your weddings will be beautiful and as stressful as this is right now, the end result will be the same- you and your fiance will be husband and wife, you'll do that in one of the most beautiful places on earth, and you will be surrounded by friends and family that love and support you. When its all said and done, you will return home with your husband!

Thanks Tammy...yeah my TA just emailed me saying that "Dreams is now not accepting new guests through October 31, 2008.

They told me they are making legal progress, but they may tell us what they think we want to hear!"

So that has me a bit confused on what to do? Our guests payments are due today & will be processed & show would like me to decided TODAY whether I want to move or not (to Barcelo?), but I don't know what to do!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
