I replied to Sandra's e-mail a few days ago, and she has yet to reply (which is to be expected...considering all the drama)

about 50% of my guests book thru expedia. Incuding FH and I! We have yet to receive a phone call either. I hope they do get in touch with us soon though...

Does any one know what our options are? besides Dreams Cancun? (not an option for us) and Secrets Silversands?

any other resorts at this point in time Dreams Tulum has mentioned sending you and your wedding party?

Dreams Cancun is super beautiful. And they put on great weddings. But I dont want to be staying in Cancun. The Mayan Riviera is were we want to stay. All our wedding related activities are in the Mayan. And we dont want to be surrounded by all the Cancun party goers... argh!

THANKS LADIES!!!!! without this forum, I would be a disaster. Even though FH says I am regardless wink.gif

I wouldn't give up just yet! Her email talked about a plan B just in case we need it. They're hoping to reopen Nov. 1. But again that is their hope. I don't believe in dates. It's either going to happen or its not but I don't think it's right for them to give people definitive dates since each date so far has fallen through. The 6th, the 13th, the 31st. I don't buy any of those dates.
From what I understand, the court ruling could be any day. Either today, next month or next year. What I would strongly advise is to create a back-up plan. That's what Sandra and I are working on.
I know they are offering Dreams Cancun, Silversands and Barcelo Maya.
Go on to their websites, look at their pictures and see which one fits you. And I do believe it's best to let them know what your preference is ASAP so they can start doing all the legwork in case its necessary.

Remember why most of us picked a destination wedding? Easy, stress-free.
Yeah, not for us DT brides!

I'm right with you ladies...haven't heard much update except they are hoping for a Nov. 1 opening; yet that's been the 4th or so date they've updated too, so who knows...soon enough it could be they hope to open end of Dec. & we just can't all be left up in the air.

So what are the options you ladies have been told that you can move to & they'll honor our prices? I've been given

Dreams Cancun

Barcelo Mayan Palace

Iberostar Parisio (sp?)

Does anyone have any opinions on these for us switching from DT? I heard the Barcelo's aren't that great except for this Mayan Palace one is only about a year old & really nice? Our TA would like us to decided TODAY, so I'd love input.

Thanks,

Laura

i'm just getting caught up on this and wanted to say to all you girls, have faith, be organized, and try not to stress! there is a reason and a plan for everything and your weddings will all end up beautiful no matter where they have to be.

yes you planned a DW to be stress-free, so dont stress and just make sure you are taken care of. so, your menus dont match, your logo's dont work anymore, look at them as vintage! collectibles no longer available! just try to make the most of it and know that the most important part is you will soon be married to your soon-to-be hubby :) regardless, either way you will be on a fantastic vacation in an amazing country and you will have a crazy story to tell your future grandchildren :)

hang in there girls! so many of you are so close!

amy, is there anything specific (a small list perhaps) of photos you all might want?

if you guys can come up with a small list, i'll send it to her and ask her to get as many of them as she can while she's there.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
