So...it looks like I will have to go to the Barcelo and I don't want to.
Amesharpe, as the date nears it will be more difficult to find another resort available with your date. Just something else to consider!
I know, I've been thinking about that. Paradisus does have my date available and I absolutely love that resort. I think that would be my first choice if I had to make a decision now. I'm torn between waiting to see if DT actually does open, switching to DPA and hoping for a move to Paradisus!

Quite a gamble!

I would go with DPA as well. When we first heard about the closing at end of September - I was like well that is OK they will move me to DPA (at that time it was suppose to be open Nov 1)... then they pushed back the opening date and my pre-bridal days have been filled with much stress. I know the brides that don't have children have been thrilled to get relocated to Secrets and why wouldn't they be. Unfortunately, us with children in our wedding party aren't so lucky as our options are limited.

Amesharpe -

I think you are right that they are concerned about you because it's during the holiday season and the resorts will be packed. It would be especially hard to move a wedding, and a large group (how large is yours?) at this time.

If I were you I would write them back and say you prefer the Paradisus. See what they say. If they say no, then take DPA. Just get moved asap so you don't have to stress. Like the other girls said it would be good to have this resolved so far in advance.

We're 45+ right now. I don't think there will be any more additions. My TA is going back to Daniel looking for specifics on the other wedding and looking into what rooms are available (ie: honeymoon suites and upgrades for my guests)

She's also pushing for PRC based on the fact that my wedding date is available there and I would feel more confident with a resort that has been open more than a month and their ability to handle the wedding.

That does not mean at all that I don't believe DPA would do an amazing job.

I'm sure they will come back and say they can't move us to PRC until they have moved the weddings prior to mine (which I totally understand) because they haven't made offers to the other brides between mid Nov and my wedding date. Can't hurt to try though, right?

I'm going to think about it until the end of the week and maybe make a decison early next week.

Thanks for the input girls. Hopefully it's a good sign I got some information today. I'm crossing my fingers for all of you that we'll all have more news soon.

OMG! I just found out that FI and I are leaving TOMORROW AFTERNOON to go on our trip before the wedding and the airport is 3 1/2 hours away so we have to leave early!!. I thought that we were leaving Thursday night, but I just checked our itinerary and we are leaving TOMORROW! Im having a b*tch fit trying to get organized and packed. I dont know how come I never checked the itinerary before, I just took FI's word for it and he misread it. (stupid little *@#&(@!! haha)We wont be home between this trip and the wedding so I need to pack for the wedding week as well. And on top of it Landy never got back to me yesterday or today! I just picked a menu selection from Barcelos options and printed it out. I dont really have any other choice so they better give me the meal to match my menu or Im going to judo-chop someone! I feel like a hummingbird on crack!!!

wow! I have to say that you actually made me laugh with your "hummingbird on crack" comment. At least it cheered me up!

OK...so don't worry about the menus or any other crap. At least you know where you are going. Pack, have fun on your trip, have fun at your wedding and forget about all the craziness. It'll be over before you know it!

Good luck and have the BEST time of your life!!!

Hi There Sandy W. No, I did not have a contract with final pricing before I left. I just had a date confirmation with Dreams and the wedding/price guide that they sent me. I was not quite sure which package to go with but ended up taking the free package ans adding a few things. Lizet told me that all pricing should be the same as the guide or they will work out something comparable. I wanted to add photo and video and was able to work something out somehting comparable with the Barcelo's resort photographers. The photographers were really nice but be warned they don't have a credit card machine setup yet and we had to pay by cash. Hopes this helps.
Amanda.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
