Dreams Tulum Closure (consolidated thread)

Recommended Posts

Everyday I keep coming on here hoping to see an update that DT has reopened...I'm so anxious! I was wondering how the other resorts are able to cope with the added guests and weddings?? I guess I am under the impression that Oct-Nov are busy wedding months so I thought they would be booked right up. I wish there was something we could do besides just wait....

The TA said that she didn't think that they would allow children at the Secrets resorts since my wedding is so far out (June 27). I am not sure if they would be willing to make exceptions for those being married earlier. Another idea that was mentioned during her visit was that they may be taking people to Secrets for the ceremony, but then back to Dreams for the reception, perhaps you could see if this would be an option? I would also hope that Dreams Cancun would honor the room rates guests were quoted at Dreams Tulum since it is more expensive, as well as honoring the wedding package and "extras" prices since they are more expensive at DC as well. I am looking forward to hearing how things are turning out for everyone as time moves on, I am trying to be thankful that my wedding isn't until June, but it's still an added stress that I didnt need to deal with. My heart truly goes out to those of you that are being married in the near future and are caught up in this situation.
I just heard from Rocio from Secrets Silversands and he says that they will not make any exceptions with children. Anyone travelling with children has no other choice than Dreams Cancun. Kinda sucks, but its only fair. The other people at Secrets are paying to stay at an all-adult resort, they prolly wouldnt appreciate it. Please Please Please Please reopen Dreams Tulum!!!!

Does anyone know the exact opening date of Dreams Puerto Aventuras? I would rather go there than DC but I heard rumors they don't open until the first of december...just two days AFTER my wedding.

I really wish they would make the exception at the Secrets resorts. I really don't care for DC.

I thought it was November 1st, but in an email that was posted on one of these threads it said that it was November 15th.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
