I'm not trying to alarm anyone but I just read the latest newspaper article on the situation and it does not look good.

Here's a link (it's in Spanish): Riviera Maya: Confirma Profepa irregularidades en trece hoteles en Tulum

It says of the 14 hotels being inspected only ONE has the appropriate licensing to operate. Goes on to say, if the owners of the 13 resorts don't present the proper documentation to prove otherwise by next week, then all will be permanently closed. Apparently, only a "partial" closure was called for so as to not disrupt tourism in the area. But the federal prosecutor believes he has given the owners plenty of time to come up with the appropriate licenses and if they don't present their case by next week, he will call for a definitive closure.

I don't know what to think anymore.

Call it denial or whatever you want...buuuut...I am feeling ok about this situation..I feel that the resort WILL open by Monday and I WILL get married there! :) Maybe I'm dumb but I don't care..

I've been through so much sh*t with this wedding so far (my MOH dropping out, my family not coming, his closest sister bailing on the trip, and nobody showing up to the events that were thrown in honor of the marriage..my bach party, his bach party, our couples shower) so this CAN'T go wrong..it won't!

I wouldn't worry to much about the news reports. I mean even when I read news stories here in Canada so often they get half the story wrong or only report on part of the story, leaving out vital information. Again, it's only been a few days, how can we expect them to have full resolved the problem in only a few days? Now if this goes on for several weeks or months, well that's another story.

WOW... I am a DT bride for Nov 5th, due to arrive on Nov 1st (one day less than a month from now). I am very upset to read all of the above and I can understand how it is even more horrible for the brides getting married in the weeks before my wedding.

What is most surprising is that NO ONE has contacted me! Why do I have to read about this when I was browsing through the forums? I e-mailed Landy over the weekend and haven't received a response yet, no big surprise as they are usually pretty slow... but she could have written something!

Anyway... trying to be less upset in imagining all the locations that were planned out for the various things (my friend Alin on here who even did a site visit already) and knowing I picked Dreams Tulum for a reason. Thinking that my fiance and our guests may have to go somewhere else now instead is heartbreaking. I guess life goes on.... and so does the wedding, no matter where we are.

PLEASE TAMMY and everyone else keep us updated as soon as you find out anything new, and THANKS so much for all your hard work for us DT brides to be. sad.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
