Anna,

I think it's probably best to let some of those plans go. As disappointing as it is, it's not worth it for you to drive yourself nuts trying to re-plan everything. there will be many excursions available from the resort - maybe you can just chose one and chose a day when you arrive and suggest it to your guests and whoever goes goes. Honestly, I know this is so upsetting, but I think you will just make it worse for youself it you try to re-plan everything. I am an economist so I guess I think of stuff in a cost/benefit way. I think the cost to you of stressing over this and re-plannign it is not worth the benefit of a bonfire, rehersal dinner or excursion. You could just do a rehersal dinner at the buffet restaurant, and although it won't be great as what you had previously planned, at least it will be simple and easy to organize rather than killing youself trying to put together something more complicated.

I hope I'm not upsetting you more, I'm just trying to help. I know with the position you are in it's hard to think objectively.

This message goes for all brides getting married in the next week - my advice is to abandon all detailed & complicated planning and go for a simple, easy approach so that you will be happy and enjoy your vacation and wedding rather than stressing.

Brooke, Trish, and Anna (and anyone else getting married soon),

I'm SO sorry to hear about everything that has happened! Though I've only posted a couple of times on this thread, I have read through EVERY SINGLE page, seen all of your posts, and can tell you've each invested a tremendous amount of time, energy, and emotion into your wedding plans. My heart goes out to all of you.

I wish all of you the best with your weddings; you will all be in my thoughts and prayers this week.

Oh wow. I just read these new line of emails. This sucks! My thoughts are with all of you with upcoming weddings. I'm sure your weddings will be beautiful, and I hope you find a way to enjoy yourselves with all the stress...and that DT fixes you up with a free 1 yr anniversary trip!

Yes, as Neen says, is there something--anything we can do to help? Maybe just offer support and report anything that we hear. :) Leave it to SunBride to sum up everything beautifully... please try to enjoy in spite of everything, because it's a once in a lifetime thing! Don't worry about trying to pull of all the little details in the last few days; all the guests will understand and they would want your focus to be on you and your FI--it is your day, after all. Keeping things simple might really help out and in the end. You wouldn't want to look back and just remember the stress you felt! If anything I will bet that Dreams Cancun and Secrets will go absolutely above and beyond to make your days incredible! And I would certainly hope that they cut your price, or give you a free vacation or something. Keep your chins up, girls... you will still be beautiful brides in a gorgeous location marrying your best friends and starting amazing new phases of your lives! And that's what is really important. (Although if you guys are still in the pissed-off, WTF phase, then by all means, please ignore everything I just said--I wouldn't blame you one bit!)

WOW. I am speachless. I can't even believe it is happening. It hasn't hit me yet... I feel a little zombie like.

The one thing that is making me feel better and I wanted to pass this on, is that the beach at the Dreams Cancun is sooooo much prettier than the one at Dreams Tulum. The beach over there is amazing and the spot to get married on the beach over there is absolutely breathtaking. You ladies that are being changed over there should try to look at some pics. It will make you feel a little better. The food should be just as good, and it will be a shorter airport ride. I know loosing the bonfire sucks total ass, just try to keep your mind on the positive changes that will come out of this, as difficult as it may be.

The Secrets is also a beautiful hotel, I saw it last time I was down there and has almost the same resturants... Ladies, what matters most is we have our health and we are marrying the guy of our dreams on a beautiful beach. Our weddings will be enjoyable so long as we are with our loved ones no matter where they are.

I really hope this helps and that we all make it through this. I especially wish the best for our October brides. Just hang in there and it will work out.

Says it was a decision made by the hotel owners and that the hotel will be closed beginning oct 1st and the employees will be suspended. I just realized my Spanish is really crappy. I need to go and visit my fam in Bolivia asap.
I am not sure how correct that article is because I spoke to 2 people in the US from Dreams and they both said that the resort is expected to re-open ASAP-latest next week.
She also said it was a permit issue

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
