Dreams Tulum Closure (consolidated thread)

Recommended Posts

I just read a Mexican newspaper that said a decision was made by federal authorities to permanently close down Dreams Tulum on Oct. 1 (tomorrow).

As we all know, the resort was temporarily shut down on Friday but to this day some guests remain.

Well, the article says everyone must leave and the hotel will be shut down in its entirety tomorrow.

It also said they will form some sort of committee/commission to try to resolve this because there are hundreds of employees and limbo.

cant wait-

Can you please supply a link for the information regarding the hotel officially closing 10/1? Or at least tell us how to obtain this information? I imagine the other brides as well as myself are anxious to get any further info we can so we can start making other arrangements!

I think this has to be resolved soon, and I wouldn't worry that much.. I know, it's easy to say so!.. but ... they will respond and offer a solution for you, in the worst scenario that in 2 months they are still fighting., they have an obligation to you, and I am sure they will make it up to you., finding an alternative place if they can't give you the service.

But again, I think it will be ok by then.

I will keep you posted with fresh news every day...

This is such a F@*K ALL!!!! Seriously, I would just like to know either way where I'm getting married next week!! Tammy has been diong such an amazing job getting info and keeping us updated, but DREAMS needs to send out ONE unified statement to all of the guests that are booked for the next few months so there are not soo many things floating around...

I get 2 emails yesterday 1 from Landy and another from the girl at the spa....even got one today. They are setting up my times for appointments and meetings at DT...not ONE word mentioned that...ummm Hey, just to give ya a heads up, we are kind of in a SITUATION right now....NOTHING! If I wasn't on the forum or didn't have Tammy I would have NO CLUE until we got to the f$#ing airport Saturday...

Sorry I'm venting I'm just extrememly stressed out and frustrated!

Wow I could not imagine what you ladies are going through. I have been looking into Dreams Tulum but haven't made anything official because we just got engaged this past Saturday and decided on November 14th, 2009 as our wedding date. Our TA says to wait until January to start trying to book our date and location. So right now we're still deciding on a resort. I feel so bad that some of you might have to make other arrangements and have so many other people to worry about as well with family and friends joining you. Hopefully you have good TA's and they will take care of all that stuff for you.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
