hello JA brides! i'm on a mission! i'm trying to find the best deal out there in regards to feeding my guests for the dinner reception. i'm interested in solis, palladium, rose hall and royal plantation. i believe they're priced at $80 and up pp (please correct me if i'm wrong). is riu the only (or best) local where i can get a bang for my buck? can i get anything yummy in a beautiful resort for $50 of less pp (or close to it)? alas, i might have a cocktail reception in lieu of the dinner. suggestions, ideas, comments....all welcome.

At Palladium they have a range of wedding packages with a base price and then a per-guest cost for every guest over 8 people. The highest (for a private reception) is $50/person.

I was married at Hibiscus Lodge Hotel in Ocho Rios. I had a traditional Jamaican food at my wedding. My wedding planner quoted me for 60 guests.

          MENU # 1 – Buffet Service
          Pumpkin Soup – Jamaica Style

          Fresh Garden Greens
          Tropical Coleslaw
          Potato Salad
          Choice Dressings

          Grilled Barbeque Chicken
          Curried Goat
          Fillet of Fish Escoveitched
          Jamaican Peas & Rice
          Steamed Market Vegetables

          Fresh Fruit Salad
Blue Mountain Coffee & Select Teas.
          Cost: US$35.00 per person x 60 persons = $2100.00
Cost is inclusive of a 4 hour local Bar.
Local Bar includes Red Stripe Beers, Local Alcoholic, Non-alcoholic Beverages &
          Champagne for Toasting.

I know her pricing is a little different now, but still reasonable. You should check out her website.
