Anyone have suggestions where to look for a dress in Chicago?

Recommended Posts

depends what styles/designers you are looking for... can you give us an idea of what you want and i'll try to direct you to a good place?

oh also... what is your budget? that will make a huge difference in where i rule out based on price alone.

I don't have an exact budget set but I'd like to find a dress under $2,000.

Since I'll be on a beach in the sand I don't want anything heavy, I'm a pretty simple person and I'm thinking I want a more informal type of dress. Its really hard to say becuase I haven't started looking yet! I made appointments at Priscilla of Boston, Weddings 826, Nicole Miller, White Chicago, Macy's, house of brides and Dimitras.

Demetrios (in Schaumburg) has a destination line, but the sample sizes in the store were all like size 4 so I didn't have much luck there. I bought my dress from House of Brides, and I got my dress 2 weeks after I ordered it. I bought mine the weekend after Thanksgiving and got a great deal so I would recommend buying it then if you can wait or if you find something there.

All the places you have appointments at are great places to look. White Chicago is awesome - you can find a really good deal there.

I would recommend against House of Brides because they will sell your info to every vendor in the city and you will be bombarded with telemarketing calls from them. My friends and I learned this the hard waysmile105.gif

you picked good places to make appointments. you are going to be really tired though LOL. which nicole miller did you make an appointment at? the one near white chicago? (i live like 5 blocks from that nicole miller!)

white chicago has nice dresses (all designer), but to be honest is not much of a deal. they are still all mostly in the $1,200+ range for a preworn dress.

fyi, house of brides is kind of pushy and they will not really bargain with you at all. one gown i liked there, they would only come down $100 on, and it was not even a gown i loved, so i passed.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
