Wow, it sounds like the surgery has really dropped in price. I paid $5400 at Bochner in December 2006. I don't remember the exact price quote I got from Herzig but it was somewhere around $6200 - $6300 at the time.

Carly, good luck with your consult. If you are a candidate and you decide to get the surgery, you will not regret it. I don't miss my contacts or glasses one bit. No more dry red eyes from contacts, no more accidently ripping a contact or knocking it out. No more glasses getting foggy in the rain or cold. No more knocking my glasses off the night stand and having to crawl around looking for them. And best of all, I can open my eyes under the water, yeah.

Omg, i know, all those things you just said get me SO excited!!! I have my consult on Thursday and have to put it in to my insurance by Friday. I'm going to have the amounts deducted from my pre-tax paycheck, but open enrollment ends Friday, so I had to cram the appt in real quick! I'm thinking if I am a candidate (which I think I am b/c I had a consult like 10 years ago) then I'll schedule it for July which is our new fiscal year. SUPER excited!

Good luck Carly, please let us know how it goes!

And yeah Cindy, the price for Herzig has come down in recent years. I'm still conflicted about wanting to get it done NOW! Logically, I know I should wait, but it's so hard to wait... I figure that as long as we're on track with our saving goals for the wedding, then I can revisit the topic in July.

Great to hear everyone's stories about their experiences!

I'm super excited because my fiance and I just agreed that I can get lasik before the wedding and so I may as well do sooner rather than later! So I'm gonna try to set up a consult very soon.

I've had glasses since I was around 8 years old, so the idea of waking up able to see just blows me away.

One question: my eyes are pretty light sensitive now, did any of you with sensitive eyes before the surgery have a lot of problems with that afterward?

Karielk, I would say that for me, there was no change. I was sensitive to light before the surgery and still am. It was not any worse after surgery. The exception being the first couple days immediately following surgery in which I pretty much wore my sunglasses 24/7. I am 3 1/2 years post surgery and have had no negative side effects whatsoever.

Thanks for the info, gals! I have light colored eyes too, so that's probably my reason for light sensitivity.

Well, I've booked a consultation for Friday! I'm so excited! But now I'm starting to get nervous that they'll tell me that I'm not a good candidate.... Eeeeek... Just got to wait and see!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
