Thanks for posting the info -- you've definitely encouraged me to do a bit more research.

Cheers!
I had Lasik eye surgery (www.lasikmd.ca) in 2005 at 42 years old. I was told that I would need glasses again eventually, probably for reading, but that it would be part of the normal aging process.

I just had my eyes checked by my regular optometrist and I'm still legal to drive without correction, and I can read no problem right now.

If you're considering it go for a consultation. They tell you everything you need to know and they examine you thoroughly and give you all the pros and cons ahead of time.

I had Lasik 4 years ago and it is the best thing I ever did. I had glasses since I was 2yrs old and I got the Lasik when I was 24. My eyes were pretty bad (-6.25 and -6.75) and they actually had to use a stronger laser than the normal one and I had a longer recovery period. I was sensitive to light for about 2 weeks and had to sleep with eye covers for 2 weeks. I hated not being able to touch my eyes (ie clean them), but I would do it again in a heartbeat. My mom got it done too and she loves it also. I was the greatest feeling in the world waking up in the morning and being able to see and not have to get my glasses and not having to play with my contacts in the morning.

It's open enrollment for insurance at my work, so I'm looking into getting this done next year. I'll withdraw the money into my pre-tax expense account and use it. I'm super excited about even THINKING about doing this! I'm waiting for a call back to schedule my consult, but the earliest I could get it done would be July 1, so that it would be in our next fiscal year. Anyway, my only real question is how much did it cost? I'm going to Scheie Eye Institute, which is probably more expensive but they are part of my campus, so it just seems right. I've been researching and get such varied amounts, I thought I'd post here and see what you all paid...

I had my LASIK surgery about 11 years ago. My eye sight was so bad that I think I could have been considered legally blind. It was the BEST thing I did for myself. Eleven years ago it was still pretty expensive....I think I paid about $5,000 for both. Now you can get it for less than $1,500 in some places. I've also heard they have advanced in the way the procedure is done, meaning that you have less side effects. One of my side effects is that my eyes are really sensitive to the sun....so I HAVE to wear sunglasses everythime I am outdoors. So with the wedding comig up...I'm worried that the sun will be getting in my eyes...and I don't think that I want to wear sunglasses during the ceremony. Another thing is that I've noticed that I've started to squint when I'm driving at night. I'm going to get my eyes checked soon to see if they have changed since my surgery.

I was so close to having it and then had to have a required surgery. Plus I have dry eyes and Dr. said it might get worse. I put it off and just got contacts last Friday. Waited almost 14 years to get contacts. I am trying them out for a bit. I still want to have the surgery, but with the cost of the wedding I am going to have to wait.

I had Lasik done six years ago, I was about 20 at the time, it was a good choice and i'm glad I did it. I had 20/20 vision for five years, but in the fall I noticed I was having trouble seeing at night, while driving, watching tv ect.. I now need glasses for distance vision sad.gif it's not that bad tho, my vision usualy only bugs me in low light and it's not even half as bad as it was before i got Lasik done. It cost me about 2200 Cdn when I got it done 6 years ago :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
