We are thinking Dreams Puerto Vallarta though to stay at as they seem to have the best beach around there. What two are you conisdering?
We are wavering between the Iberostar Varadero and the Ibeorstar Laguna Azul. Both are in Varadero, Cuba. Basically we don't know between two of the same chain: the new one who looks absolutely amazing, but is so new that we can't know yet if it's going to be good (especially with the service) once it's been up and running for 18 months, or the tried and true that's #1 with over a 1000 reviews, but doesn't look as spectacular...

As for the dress, yeah, I'm pretty confident I'll find a dress I fall in love with. Just hope it's one within my (very small) budget... LOL

I am so very anxious to go dress shopping! my mother lives on the other side of the country and I really want ot wait for her to be here before I go shopping. What kind of dresses is everyone thinking of or wearing? "Destination" dresses seem to be the more practical choice, but I still am dreaming of the true "wow" wedding gown. The one am have been fawning over is a fitted sheath type dress with this beautiful bustle piece that makes the dress look more like a trumpet/mermaid style. Then, I think abuot how hot it will be and I think a simple light gown would be better, but I feel like I would be settling. Any thoughts?

My budget does not leave me many options either, but everything I like is very far over the budget. sad.gif

I also picked up a few wedding planning books and have been reading through those and lots of magazines! Decided on a destination (Riviera Maya) and now trying to choose the right resort (leaning towards Excellent Riviera Cancun). TA Lindsay from this forum is already working on quotes for me (she's fantastic so far!) and I'm so excited I just want to get it all planned pronto! Its hard to be patient...I'm sure you ladies can relate!

Where/When is everyone getting married??
I am getting married at teh Excellence Riviera Cancun. If you have any questions to help make your decision, feel free to ask me. I have been there a few times. I absolutely love it there!

Any suggestions, ladies?
Do a google search! You can actually find some that way :o) As far as getting to your 150 posts, the game threads really helped me out. And also welcoming other Newbies on that thread. Some of the game threads I used (and still play): Pops in your head, Movie Game, ~like or dislike~. Another good way is on Show us your Dress, Show us Your Rings, etc posts. Give people comments and feedback and you'll get to open attachments in no time.

In August, it will be HOT in Mexico! But if you don't love love love a dress that seems light, I say rough it out in your dream dress! Who wouldn't want a "mermaid" style on the beach? Makes sense to me.

All those budget people.. my dress is Private Label (by G) Destiny and it was under $500 with taxes and all. It actually looks more expensive than all of the other.. waaaay pricier... dresses that I tried on.

Awww, that sucks! I find it already hard enough having to wait until 2011, I can't imagine what it would be to have to push it an extra year!

On another note, a TA I had met with contacted me by email today telling me that she just got news that she'd be able to get us a group rate for our May 2011 trip. This is much earlier than April 2010, which is the date everyone was telling that the prices come out. I'm anxious as to what kind of prices she'll come up with. There is another TA that we'd prefer to work with, so we'll email her and ask her if she too can give us quotes. :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
