just a quick question. i am getting married july 2011. when should i send out my save the dates? i was honestly thinking in Jan 2010, just to give ppl a heads up, and to let the ppl that really need to save have enough time too....then not send out my invites til much further along, as we havent booked with a travel agent yet....

As far as pricing goes, I'm checking the same month/days for 2010 just for an idea of what is the best deal. I hope it doesn't go up too much, if at all for 2011!
Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. We are getting married at the Excellence Riviera Cancun. This is where he proposed to me, so it was an easy choice for us. We love it there it is so romantic and just beautiful. The food is great and the service there is the best I have ever experienced in my life. Everyone is treated like royalty. We have chosen Claudia Rodriguez photography. I would love to have Sol Tamargo, but she is just too expensive. For the style of photography we are looking for, Claudia's pricing is unbeatable. The other Excellence resort in Playa Mujeres is beautiful, too. I have not been there yet. It is the newer of the two resorts and is a little more upscale. I just love the Excellence group, they do an amazing job.

Are you guys send out your std without actually booking the resort first? I've been in contact with the WC at the resort I want to get married at and she's told me that they're not booking for 2011, and hasn't responded as to when that would be. She's just told me that she'll let me know when that time comes. I really want to send out std's asap (booking for jan 2011), but I'm hesitant to do that without actually booking a date yet. What do you think?

I went and saw a travel agent about 3moths ago to just find out about the process. And she suggested i come and see her in the middle of Jan to have pricing and to contact the resort. She said most tavel agents do not get info till then.

as for the STD's, i am sending mine out come Jan, even if i dont have the exact date i am to be getting married, i am sending them out to let ppl know that it will be in July 2011. Then when i send out the invites, it will have my actual day. I feel like the STD's for a destination wedding is just to give your guests a heads up for the time frame for them to start saving.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
