Dreams PV Renovations

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know anything about the Dreams PV renovations?

To make a really long story short, I wanted to book through a TA. Fi wanted to book online (orbitz). His arguement was that we've never had any problems booking online and in the end his persistence won.

Fast forward to last night. I have a voicemail from Orbitz telling me that my upgraded suite is no longer availalbe as Dreams is renovating the Club Tower. FI calls them today to see what is going on, and no one can tell him anything aside from that the only room that is availalbe is in the main tower, and there are not ANY options for an upgraded room.

I call the Dreams 1800 number. They refuse to help me because I booked online and the woman will not give me any info on anything.

Awesome.

We have some exciting news that weâ€d like to share with you regarding Dreams Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa.

On September 8th, 2008, we will start a facility enhancement and refurbishment of some key areas of the property with the purpose of refining the current installations. The refurbishment will take place in closed isolated areas of the property and concentrated at the far left hand side of the property facing the sea. Due to the location and the fact that work is being done indoors, we can manage the situation and ensure that our mutual client´s vacation will not be disturbed by noise or workers. These areas will be blocked from our guests view. We are thrilled with the project and the estimated investment will be over 7 million US, which will allow us to further differentiate and clearly set ourselves apart from the luxury competitive set in Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit.

During the refurbishment, which will last until November 30th, there will be one restaurant and bar out of service along with some junior suites and tennis.

The details of the refurbishment are as follows:

Jr. Suite Rooms: All Jr. Suites will be completely refurbished and refurnished with 4-poster beds, sitting area with sofa and two sofa chairs, all new furniture and soft goods, artwork, lamps, flat screen televisions (27”), double vanity, in-room tub with separate shower, shower doors, etc. This means brand new suites!! This section of the resort will also offer an exclusive Preferred Club Lounge upon completion.

Images of new Jr. Suites: (i have the images if you want them)

Seaside Grill Restaurant: Complete renovation including furniture, flooring, and décor.

Portofino Restaurant: This restaurant will remain in service however we will relocate it with a new look including furniture, decor and ambiance. Once we open the new restaurant we will offer show cooking as well. The original Portofino location will then be expanded as part of World Café and offer our clients an in-door air-conditioned area and open air seating.

Tennis Courts: During this time frame, the tennis court will not be available due to its location which is very close to the area being refurbished.

Conference Center: Complete with new décor, carpets, furniture and state-of -the-art equipment.

We are very excited about this project as the investment in these areas will be a fantastic upgrade to our resort. Once again the time frame will be from September 8 thru November 30th, 2008.

thanks tammy.

i think he has learned his lesson. he called me this morning and said "i guess we should have used a TA" me "DUH you a**!"

so it doesn't sound like they are renovating the entire building at one time. maybe there is hope for getting an upgraded room...

Anyone have any updated information about the renovations at the Dreams PV? Last I heard the renovations were going to be taking longer than expected and going over the planned schedule (i.e., past November 30). I have been checking the reviews on trip advisor and even though they seem to have gone from horrible (lots of complaints about contruction, problems with rooms changes due to the Club Tower and one restaurant being closes, etc.) to really good again, there's no specific mention about the status of the renovations.

I contacted my travel agents in Canada and the US and both said they think the renovations should be done by the time my group gets down there in January but I can't help but be a little nervous...any info is appreciated! Thanks!

Hey Julia, I don't have any info on if the construction is done or not, but we were there during construction and it wasn't a big deal at all. If you were by the new tower you could occasionally hear some construction noise, but nothing disturbing at all. And you couldn't see the renovations at all either - unless you saw a worker in the new tower.

I was really worried about the construction too, but it wasn't a big deal at all!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
