So I would say that which hotel you want depends on where your wedding is. Is it in Lahaina or Kihei? Lahaina is quite a drive from Kihei so I would say make sure that that hotel you choose is close to the place where your wedding is going to be. This website has good pictures of units in these hotels: Kihei Vacation Rentals - VRBO® is Vacation Rentals by Owner Kihei - Kihei Hotels, Kihei Lodging, Kihei Travel and Tourism. This link is for Maui Banyan but you can look at the other hotels too.

Also, for surfing, go to the North Beach up by the airport but make sure you ask locals where to surf and what hazards there are (and what the rules are). You could also go to this surf shop, High-Tec Surf Sports, up by the Airport (425 Koloa Street Kahului, Maui, HI 96732) and either ask them where to go, or if you want, you can get lessons. You can also rent equipment and boards here. They are super helpful - I took a kiteboarding lesson from them when I was there.

UPDATE- everyone- thank you soooo much for your advice and help, you are the best!!!!! we searched web last night, joe called a few diff hotels and spoke to people in hawaii- who were very helpful too- and after going over it all, we decided we are going to stay at our original hotel. the pool shouldnt be the t-breaker, we are in hawaii and will most likely be going on adventures, going to the beach, etc. i dont want to sit near a pool all day in hawaii when i can do that around here, kwim? id rather go to beach anyway. everything else about that hotel, and that area sounds like paradise. i was worried though about the level of construction they'd be doing. the noise, if they' be drilling, dust everywhere, etc. so joe called them and they said its nothing major, they're just re-facing the pool. they said there will be not drilling, etc. also, they might have another hotel pool available for the guest. so, there ya have it.

thanks danielle for following up, and again- thanks to everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! xo

  • 4 weeks later...

My family stayed at Kamaole Sands for my wedding and continue to stay there when they come to visit me here in Maui! It's a beautiful property and it's right across the street from the beach! It's on the south side though and most of the nightlife is on the west side. Hope this helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
