2010 WC quotes for villa weddings?

Hi everyone!

Yup, still a definite newbie trying to get my bearings, but I want to make sure I'm not being too naive in this whole wedding planning thing... So, I just received a quote from a reputable WC for a March 2010 wedding at a private villa. Needless to say, it feels a bit high (and I was even expecting something high) since no transport, alcohol, hair/makeup, photo/video, site fee, etc. are included. The quote for an 80 person ceremony and reception was $21K.... I'm sure all of this sounds very familiar...

BUT even so, I do realize that there are new pricing policies for everything for 2010 and that the quote does include flowers, all the labor, decor, rentals, food, coordination fees, officiant, blah... so I guess it includes a lot. Regardless, I wanted to run this by the BDW ladies to get some input!!

Thanks SO MUCH in advance!!

Honestly...for what it includes...I think its bang on. It sounds more of a tailored exclusive villa, so if it is, you're also paying for the name. Maybe I'm not realistic, but for the flowers, decor, food, linens, officiant, labour, coordination etc, I think its fair.

It also depends on the time of year - high season vs low season. As well as the quality, amount and variety of the included items. Quality - How many flowers; how much food;linens;rentals etc. variety - How much food choices? etc

Maybe I'm off my rocker. It also depends on your budget and the kind of wedding that you're having.

Maybe someone else can shed more light, but I think thats a fair estimate. Good luck!

Danielle- I am not only saying this because I am using DD, but again and again I am hearing people personally rave about Kristin's work. You aren't just paying for the table linens, plates and music. She gives you the Fairy Tale...... Good luck with your decision. Let any of us know if we can help in any way....

Hi DKW! I too am a Puerto Vallarta bride scheduled to get married in January 2010 and am using DD as my WC. I am in the process of trying to find a villa for my wedding. I really wanted to get married at Casa Salamandra but they won't book anything for next winter now due to some negotiations they are having with Canadian investors. I saw that you visited some villas. I am looking into villas mainly in conchas chinas and mismaloya..(my guests are staying at dreams) did you find one in particular that you loved? I am considering Guillermo, Serena, Medeterreano, Quinta del Mar and a few others. If Casa DeMae accepts weddings, i would have it there. Casa San Sebastian is gorgeous too but apparently they don't do weddings. I would love to know your thoughts on villas. Thanks! Sandy.

Hi Sandy! Yea, I tried to see Salamandra too but no one ever got back to me. From what I've heard, it's quite expensive and you are not allowed to go into the villa, i.e. it's event only and really you only get the kitchen, bathroom and grounds. I could be wrong, but that's what I heard. As for the others, all are great options! I'm trying to go for a more Mexican feel to my wedding, so I wasn't drawn to modern-type villas, like Guillermo, but it is beautiful and luxurious - agreat choice! Also, I don't know how big your wedding is, but I was told Serena might be too tight for a 50-60 person wedding, although that too looks amazing! I didn't see QDM, San Sebastian or DeMae. I've also considered booking both Quetzal and Serafines - have you considered that? Ceremony/cocktails in one, reception in another? I've heard that's beautiful and in the Conchas Chinas hills... I think the biggest question is always what "feel" you want, which is what dictated my process. Also, I wanted space so that guests could move around throughout the night, which is difficult to find. Have you considered Crescencia? Let me know if you have questions about particular villas and I'd be more than happy to give specific feedback!! Best of luck!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
