Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda Brides post here

Hey everybody,

Are people getting any rates (group, internet or otherwise) for January 2010 and beyond? It seems they should be available by now.

I know the website itself lists under $150/ni for Oct for example, but seems to list "no availability" beyond that.

Thanks for any advice!

Chris

I have the same concerns. I spoke to Candy and the other girl who does room groups when I was down there. They have a discounted room rate they can give you, but it wasn't a discount at all (especially compared to what we were seeing online). I asked why it was so much higher than the internet pricing (even before the swine flu thing happened) and they said a completely different group manages their room rates so we can use the internet to book lower rates if we want. They just dont know when they would be posted and how much it will be. Seems frustrating and strange that they don't "own" what happens on the internet for room rates.

If anyone hears anything different for 4/2010, let me know!!

We were there in mid-May and the beach is very nice. The sand is raked every morning and is a pretty white color. The water is best from the middle of the resort and to the north towards the VIP beach. There was quite a bit of seaweed in the water close to where you get the hobie cats and kayaks. It seems to stay in that area. We spent alot of time on the beach (VIP area) and also in the water and loved it. We did go to Playa del Carmen and of course the water there is awesomely gorgeous, but you also won't be unhappy with BBGE. I'll try to post some photos for you. :)

This is the location of the weddings right outside Jaal-ha restaurant. If you look closely you can see the framework of the gazebo; once decorated it is very pretty. This area is fairly private with beautiful sand. There were chairs set out for about 60 at one of the weddings we saw. In the background you can see the beach beds in the VIP area.

As you can tell, the resort was VERY empty when we were there. We used the Hobie Cats alot.

Do you mean they won't know when internet rates will be made available via their site? I notice their website doesn't list any rooms available past October. I find it hard to believe they are booked up from November onwards, i.e. you'd think they'd at least list room at "rack rate". I'm sure plenty of people are trying to book normal winter vacations (never mind weddings) - and can't.

The whole room pricing unavailibity makes it pretty tough for guests to plan to come to your wedding, and is frustrating.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
