I'm thinking about asking our photographer (if we ever find one and book one...) to also do an engagement session a day or two before the wedding. We thought about doing engagement pics here but would much rather have them done in Mexico!
Is this a strange thing to do? Has anyone else ever done this?

I say go for it, why not? I would just scout out some different locations though, as you don't want the e-pics to be similar to your wedding pics.

We're doing something like this - our photographer offers a "True Romance" shoot, which is a combination of engagement/ttd pics. You can check out her pics at Michelle Turner Photography - Maine and Destination Wedding Photography and see what the True Romance shoot looks like. Usually, they are done both in town and on the beach.

Our photographer has offered to go on an exucrsion with us before the wedding to do an "engagement" shoot. I don't really like to call it that since we've been engaged for 2 years...and it's right before our wedding. I just think of it as getting some GREAT pics!! More like a vacation shoot!! :)

This is something I offer to my destination wedding clients. This session is done a day or two prior to the wedding, and it's a great way for us to be able to get some fantastic, romantic images of them, as well as allowing both of us to get to know each other better.

We have booked our photographer and she offers an extra session in the package! We are actually going to do it after the wedding though. Most of our guests will be gone then and we'll be more "relaxed" :)

Hey there, I think that is a great idea. I love to do that. Here are a couple of slideshows from two weddings last year, both of BDW members. The first was a quick set of images before the welcome dinner, I loved it that they dressed in black! The second was actually done on the morning of the wedding and again I loved the casual white they chose. I say go for it!
