August 2009 brides

Recommended Posts

Thanks so much Barrow, sometimes I feel bad asking the seller these questions esp if I decide not to buy, I know they probably don't mind but it's just one of those things hehe. But that's why BDW is so great right!?!

Hi Everyone!

I am also an August 2009 bride! I just found this thread and it is great. Although I'm feeling like I'm a little behind now. Here is what we have so far:

Picked Location (Rose Hall Resort & Spa, Montego Bay)

Placed Deposit

Picked TA and she has negotiated rates for our group

Finishing STD/Invitation brochure

Bought my dress

Still deciding between 2 bridesmaids dresses

Made bouquets for bridesmaids and junior BM

I think that is it for now. I can't believe that August will be here before we know it!!!

Hi, Guys

I must give you all the update of my dress 4 MONTHS into this. I am screaming in my head. I have been breaking out and loosing hair, literally, because of all this stress. I think someone needs to call BRIDZILLA for me. lol (at least I can still laugh, right)

Well, my dressmaker has not made any progress with my dress, it is in pieces and I have nothing to try on and she has had my dress since December. I decided to find a new dress maker, which I did, and take my materials or my money back from her. I went last night and my FI had to step in because she was not letting go. She wanted to finish my dress and use it as an example for another bride she plans to make a dress for in December. Well, this was a lesson to me. When people say never tell someone you are doing business with for your event the exact date, do just that. She felt because my wedding was in August she had ample time and could do other projects in the mean time. Bottom line, I am happy that my man got the materials from her for me, after threatening to take her to court; she gave it up right away. So, now I am on a new escapade with the new dress maker. She is young, fresh, interns at a designing firm and has a degree in designing, she has also made dresses for run way shows in the fashion district in New York, and I have seen some of her work. I hope to breath easy from here on out.

On another note, I plan to do a small welcome basket or bag for everyone and I do not know where to start. I have ideas on what to put in, but it seems really costly being that I now have 100 RSVP. What can I do ladies, who can I use for this? I had a drawstring backpack idea, but look costly......

Welcome to the thread newbie’s and hope to see pictures when we get back.

Well it's good to hear that I'm not the only one losing my hair.. literally as well!! I'm glad you got someone else to do your dress, hope it goes better and she is quick! As for less expensive OOT bags you could do reusable shopping bags, this site has pretty good deals Non-Woven Totes or you could use paper bags from a craft store and put your logo on them.

I cut all my hair off, thats like loosing my hair :P

Wow thats a lot of guest for a DW, but you could just do nice post cards and leave like an apple or cookies or other food things on a plate or something like that... that would be cheaper

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
