Parent's gifts! Help!

Recommended Posts

So our wedding is in 41 days and I have no clue what to give my parents (i have two sets of parents) and my FI's parents at our wedding. I really don't even know where to begin on parent gifts. I have looked through a lot of wedding sites and so and I have seen handkerchiefs and frames and so on. But none of those things really excite me.

What did you get/give to your parents on your wedding day? What about step parents?

Thanks for you help!!!

This is one of the last major things on my list. This weekend I bought my mom and FMIL a Blessings Bowl® - Welcome but I have no idea what to give my father. I only have 2 weeks left and I have no ideas. The traditional stuff does not excite me either. We are paying for the wedding ourselves but our parents are traveling and giving us gifts. I think it is more sentimental.

We wanted something to give to them on the day of that they would use! We are giving them the photo albums that I will have made for Mother and Father's days.

For the day of we are giving the dads monogrammed travel bags filled with their favorites.

For the moms we are giving them spa wraps (in wedding colors), waffle weave cosmetic bags, and totes that will all be monogrammed.

We just figured this way we have time to get the special albums done with not too much stress on us!

We did digital frames for both set of our parents. We got them @ Bed,Bath & Beyond with a 20% coupon and they had a mail in rebate... very good deal! I think a 7 inch was $85.00. We loaded them with special pictures from the wedding and with each of us growing up. We made mine with my baby pics & my husband's with his baby pics. Mine had the song I danced with my dad to playing and my husband's had the song that he danced with his mom to playing. Great gift they can use for years to come.

My plan is to give our parents picture frames like this:

Click the image to open in full size.

For FI's parents, the first picture will be of him as a child and the second will be one of us together. For my mom and step-father and my father it will be of me as a child and then me with FI.

That's the plan so far. I'll post when it's done :)pinkie.gif

I'm not doing anything!! Usually in the UK I think the mothers get a bunch of flowers.

My parents won't be there and FMIL could be on fire for all I care lol

FI did say we were going to get her a pic of us from the wedding photographer. I quickly corrected him and said HE was I wasn't contributing lmao

I think its just personal preferrence, but I would say something small and meaningful as opposed to really expensive and useless - only my thoughts tho

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
