I am enlisting the help of all local friends and family that are goign down. Especially those with babies (as they are entitled to 2 bags also, and their closthes take up so little space). Everyone has actually been offering to mule things down so i didn't even have to ask

I took as large of a suitcase as I could... well, my second suitcase. I packed it full with stuff but made sure it was under the weight limit. Then I had a few things in with my clothes, a few things in both of our carry-ons, and then I distributed a few things to family and friends. It worked out in the end, but man was that a lot of work to coordinate!

Thank all of you for the info. girls. I will start talking to my BM and family members. Good idea. I would rather deal with that then having to worry about my things getting there on time.

Just a tip: It's cheaper to bring an extra bag than have your bag be overweight! Most airlines charge $15-$25 for an extra bag but a whopping $50 if your bag is overweight.

And it's cheaper to pay the $20 than ship it... at least you know it will get there!

I must say this is the best question yet. I have been wondering the same thing. My coordinator is telling me that it is best to spread things out amongst guest, people you can trust, and they must carry the thing in their carry on bags. Fear that at the air port prior or even when landed luggage people can steal things. Shipping things down is a bit risky as well. Never have an exact date of arrival and who will pick up. The hotel will tell you that they are not responsible. I am so debating this. Everyone has good points here. I will continue to think about this.

tobebridejamaica-let me know how it works out for you being that your wedding is up and comming. Congrats and good luck.

I'm sorry, but I'm new to this DW thing. I thought if you have your wedding at a resort, things like centerpieces, runners, flowers, etc were provided for you by the resort. What things need to be shipped/brought down to the location? Thx!

Depends on the resort...and what you want!
I would check with the WC at your destination!

My WC at my resort said not to ship anything down to Punta Cana. so check with yours first.

I was planning on splitting up stuff between me, my parents, and my sis but now what we are doing is:
                  - handing out oot bags a week before we leave
                  - just bringing favors (also our placecards), cake topper, dress, grooms attire, program fans.

we are taking everything on the plane with us. so fi insisted i keep it to a minimum. Boo!

Oh and if your staying in Riviera Maya you could definately do some shopping for favors and things for oot bags there. It's a really close cab ride to Playa and there is a ton of shops to get stuff there.
