Eurostar Blue Tulum...any brides out there?

Recommended Posts

Hi girls,

Okay, so I'm not usually the one to freak out, but um, I kind of am right now! I don't want to freak anyone else out because I'm sure if you haven't been contacted it's because you aren't affected, but after dealing with the drama of Angelina from yesterday, I decided to contact the hotel directly and went to their website to call the 1-800 - and oh my gosh oh my gosh! Blue Tulum Hotel, Resort & Spa in Mayan Riviera - Offline NO LONGER EXISTS! Then I tried calling the U.S. phone number and it says, you've reached an estar number that no longer exists!

This is what the site says:

Adios. Blue Tulum Hotel, Resort & Spa in Mayan Riviera

Esta web ha dejado de estar operativa definitivamente.

Sentimos las molestias.

I am fluent in Spanish and this means that the website is no longer in operation...we're sorry for the inconvenience. Now, Angelina was telling me that they were changing administration, so clearly Eurostars will no longer be managing the hotel, but now I'm not sure I even feel comfortable with

doing a wedding there period. I'm crushed because it looks like such a beautiful place!

I'm starting to feel like a destination wedding is just not in my future! sad.gif Feeling totally bummed right now and just wanted to vent...

Hugs,

Claudette

Ok OK Ok we are all freaking out together. The good news is...we're together in this. I have read the past couple of weeks that Eurostars is out...now the resort is just Blue Tulum. I was ok with that, but share your concern re cancelling weddings. Sarah, your wedding is early April, right? And you have not heard anything? Claudette, you have reservations already booked? Did she say you could still stay there, just no wedding? Our honeymoon is 4/27 to 5/3 and we have heard nothing - yet. You bet your boots I'll be calling tomorrow. Also on the upside, Expedia is still offering the resort on its website, which is sort of encouraging; I mean if the place was closing down it wouldn't be offered, right? Orbitz dumped the resort (and Dreams) when the drama began earlier this year. Lets stay in touch - and hang in there, this is all going to work out.

Hello girls!

Okay, a few updates - first of all I just got off the phone with Angelina - who really didn't tell me anything except "don't worry" - well um how can I not?! She is still saying no weddings past April 15th and still only giving me the explanation of new management when I ask her why.

She is telling me that if I move the date to April 4th there will be no problem, but Sarah, isn't that when your wedding is? I know you're not having it at the resort but your guests are staying here right? We're having about 30 - 40guests come, so I'm worried about how much room there will be.

Apparently Patty (the new owner) will be calling me at 6:00 my time (EST) so maybe I'll have a few answers. After I hung up, this is what Angelina sent me - hope this helps somewhat! I'm still nervous about booking my wedding here (I mean with actually having the wedding there and all my guests book there it seems a bit risky - sigh - I love this resort but I don't think it'll work for me - so sad!) And now I'm freaking out because I feel I have to start out from square 1 all over!

Hmm, I feel your ambivalence, Claudette. On the one hand, I think Blue Tulum would be the most intimate, posh place for a wedding - like your own little villa or town...on the flip side I know how much anxiety I have - and it's just my honeymoon - and am not sure I could live with the drama of not knowing how it's going to shake out. I did call the resort today, also, and the reservationist assured me "no no no problems, we will have new pictures, new web site, there is a new owner, no reason for worry, everything is fine". I guess I'll just call each month to check things out. I am still suspicious of the 4/15 timeline, why is that the magic day? If the resort will be the same, why no weddings after that date?

Claudette, I appreciate so much that you are sharing information with us. Please keep me updated with news you receive and what you decide to do about your destination.

Best - Julie

Well, it's official, we have been fired from Blue Tulum. Email follows:

Dear Ms. Mattingly:

I want to send you my best Regards from Cancún, at the same time I take this opportunity to thank you for your interest in spending your honeymoon at BlueTulum, checking the status of your reservation I noticed that the dates are From April 27 to May 3, 2009, unfortunately, the new administration is confirming reservations till April 15, 2009 when a new concept of the hotel will be launched, reservations before and till April 15, 2009 are being accepted with any problem as the hotel remains the same and we are even improving the quality of the facilities and services, however, we can not accept reservations after that date.

We are so sorry for the inconvenience but it is important to notify you this decision today, December 6th, 4 months before your arrival in that way you will have plenty of time to find another wonderful property for such an important event… please let me know if I can help you in any way.. and once again,,, please accept our sincere apologies.

Hi Julie,

I'm so sorry to hear about your reservation - what a bummer! sad.gif I hope that you can get your money back - I'm sure you will be able to but let me know! Have you had a chance to look at other places?

I have started my search from scratch, but am having such a hard time because I keep on thinking about how much prettier everything was at this hotel! I'm exhausted right now but will write you with some hotels that I found and liked that maybe you can check out as well. I did find one that I thought was kind of cool that I remember off the top of my head because it's the last one I look at! It's called The Bel Air Collection and here's their website: Bel Air Collection Cancun Hotel | Official Site

Just a warning - the music on their site gave me a headache so you might want to turn your volume down! :)

I'll write more later but I am confident that as much as it sucks right now, we will find the most amazing replacement that will surpass the Blue Tulum!

Hugs,

Claudette

wow I am just about to board a plane but I am reading all of this. My wedding is April 4th but I am actually having the ceremony at Ana y jose so it just means that our guests will be staying at the same hotel. I'm sure we can all have fun together! I have 50 guests but they won't all be staying there and I think even with 44 rooms there will probably be enough room. The only issue will be the rehearsal dinner. I'm sure we can work it out! This is all making me a little nervous but they haven't even contacted me except to say there will be another wedding at the hotel April 4th (which I assume is you). I think they should figure out a way to honor your old reservation but if you switch to April 4th I'm sure we can all stay at the hotel and even maybe share hair dressers etc!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
