Hurricane =no power =no BDW

I missed you girls!

Who would have thought that here in KY, we'd get hit by Ike?

Sunday, we basically had a category 1 hurricane, just without the water. The strongest winds were recorded at 90mph. Trees are down everywhere! Over 5000 powerlines are down and 300+ poles were snapped. To top it off, a lot of the crews were down in Texas helping with relief efforts and had to come back.

400,000 were without power on Sunday. They've been great about getting stuff back up, but there are still like 150,000 homes without. School is cancelled for the rest of the week. It could take another 2 weeks to get everything back to normal.

Monday I spent my birthday in the dark. DH tried to have flowers delivered, but I wasn't in the office because I was trying to move all of my food out of the walk-in fridge and freezer so I didn't lose it.

Luckily, we have power at the new house and nothing was damaged. The old house is still dark, so we can't move or clean, and it got hit pretty hard with tree limbs that fell in the driveway and tore off the gutters.

To top all of this off, I am slammed with Ryder Cup activities this week. I'm cooking at this house a company rented for the week to host clients. It doesn't have any electricity anywhere close. I have learned to cook by flash light and I did get a festive forehead light (like miners wear).

I'm exhausted and I miss BDW!

Thanks for letting me rant!

Erin,

I live in Ohio and we were hit pretty hard also. My electric was only out for 24 hours but there are people that still have no electricity. I was in a panic on Monday because I only had a couple of days before we left for our wedding and I had so much to do. I couldn't do sh*t without electricity. But it's all good and we leave in 1 hour! I'm glad you are alright, but don't stress yourself out.

I'm so sorry you got hit so hard. Thank God your new house is ok. It is so odd because I live in Texas and we got some wind and cool weather but nothing stormy at all. I can't believe how many northern states got hit so hard! Hang in there and you will be BDWing again in no time

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
