DREAMS PUERTO VALLARTA "thread"

Recommended Posts

Hi Merve - I don't think I'll see Rebecca but if I do I'll ask her whatever questions you want. I doubt I will though because we are using an outside coordinator and they are showing me everything.

White linens are included. They just charge you if you want colored linens.

The starfish passing idea is that you could put a starfish in your bouquet for your something borrowed, something blue. We would post the list of people waiting for the starfish and the brides next to each coordinate with each other to get it passed on.

do you think our weddings are too close together to do the starfish passing though? I mean like there is no way I could pass it to Autumn lets say as I'll be on my honeymoon till the 4th...I'm sure some of ours will overlap. Unless we just left it at Dreams of course...but then who is to say it will actually be there.

Jess, I bet in situations like you and Autumn getting married so close, that when you leave Dreams they can hold it for her at the front desk. I work for attorneys and I send many boxes of documents to hotels ahead of the attorneys so it is there when they get there. The hotels have no problem holding stuff for incoming guests when the timing is so close. They just don't hold it for months. So maybe that could work??

Thanks married lady!!

Girls, I think the starfish could really work sans drama. We can totally find out if it'd be ok to leave it at the front desk - I'm guessing it would only be a few days anyway.

did you ask what that centerpiece will look like? we specifically asked for nothing - no table, no centerpiece, but got one anyway and it was ugly. not a big deal, but just so you're prepared.

But now we are getting new reservations from the invites- I think we are looking at 90 people- talk about panic...I don't know what to do. Upgrades for us our going to out of the question with 90 people. Rebeca told me that Las Palmas terrace seats up to 70, so I don't even know what our options will be for 90 at the reception. I hope we are not stuck indoors. I emailed Rebeca today and am waiting for her response. Any suggestions?

86 Booked and Counting!
you try the beach? probably you're only option - world terrace is the buffett (and after all of this, do you really want your reception at a buffett?)

idk about leaving the starfish - i'd make sure to have a back-up of some sort...they are really fragile and JIC it mysteriously disappears...hate to sound like a "debbie downer" but don't want you ladies to be disappointed...

Thanks Ladies for the good thoughts. We sent out invites to a lot of people to be nice but never expected so many would be able to come to an October wedding in Mexico. While I'm glad that they are making this effort for us, I just wish they would have responded 6 months ago with the STD. I guess that was too early for some people to make the decision. Looks like we'll be over budget and I am now reconsidering the cocktail hour. I wonder how necessary that will be or if we can just go directly to dinner- can't we get drinks at dinner? The cocktail hour will add more than $1400.

Rebeca needs to check with her manager to see what our options are for location. I looked on their website but can't find any pictures of the World Terrace. And, when you say beach- does that mean they set the tables up and serve dinner directly on the beach?

Good news is that I found a great selection of Candies sunglasses at the 99 cent store (marked $28 from Kohls)- and they are actually cute. All 46 ladies will have a spare pair of sunglasses included in their OOT bags. The guys will have straw cowboy hats- so, Jamie, if you see 40 guys in cheap straw cowboy hats, when you come in October, they are with us!

I love the Bachelorette pic Jill- what fun! Mine is September 19- I'm going back to Omaha for it. The theme is Big and Black- big hair and black shirts.

And, Autumn, I love the idea of passing the starfish!

Thanks Lauren- I had no idea what world terrace was. When you say buffet, do you mean a patio area directly outside the buffet? I guess the downfall would be that it is not private?

Have you seen a reception on the beach right in the sand? I'm surprised they can serve there. I can't picture it- especially at night. But, that might be the best option. Now I wish that we would have explored some off-site options for the wedding, but I hadn't even heard of that until I joined this Forum. This has been a big help.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
