DREAMS PUERTO VALLARTA "thread"

Recommended Posts

Nice, Jill, thanks!!

That's cool, Jess! There is so much to know about ins and people really need help figuring it all out & having it explained to them!

So, I'm out here for school; in a nurse practitioner program & getting my doctorate at the same time. I must be nuts. My DNP (doctor of nursing practice) classes start up on Tues and I'm a wee bit nervous about that.

For the wedding packages (ie Dreams Ultimate) do we not get any centerpieces at all? For some reason I thought they put candles on the tables, but I saw on the price list Jessica posted that there are decor packages we have to purchase to include candles, colored napkins, etc. (?) Guess I need to email Rebeca.

Oh, another question (from the price list) - does the DJ cost $590 for 3 hours? It can't be $590 per hour for 3 hours, can ithuh.gif

Rebeca mentioned to me that small votice candles are included. It sounds to me that just the floral is what is charged. She basically told me whatever she has to use, I can use at no charge, and whatever I bring, she will set up at no charge. I bit the bullet and am paying $55 per table for my centerpieces - small white rose bouquet in a vase. I figure i'm only having 4 or 5 tables, so that's not too bad. I'm bringing my own table runners and crystal dangling ornaments to put in the bouquet centerpieces. She also told me that I could use silver plate chargers for $2.5 each, but I think I'm prob passing on that also. I'm making menus that have silver and iridescent color to it, so that will bring color along with the table runner and crystals.

awesome Jill! Can't wait to see what you've put together!

oh, & Jess, I never answered your question -- so my program/s will be done about summer of 2011 and we want to move back around then I think. I get what you mean about winters there; pretty damn brutal and it's hard to beat the year-round sunny & 75 of SD! Paul used to live in Ocean Beach & I still can't believe he moved to Chicago for me! must've been love :)

yeah, $15 a chair is ridiculous, but they're so pretty. Still, I can't justify it.

So tonight we decided on getting Mexican Talavera tiles to use as our placecards. I ordered some samples to see how we like them. I'm hoping I can write names & tables on the back calligraphy-style. I've been wanting something like this for a while but didn't know exactly what it was I wanted 'til I saw the idea on the Etsy thread. I'm so excited to try & make them though - it'll be waaay cheaper.

I thought $15 per chair was pretty silly too! With almost 45 predicted guests the last thing I want to spend $675 on is chairs and like Jill said who will really remember the chairs!

And I think Rebeca said that for the centerpieces, the $55 is just for the flowers unless the candles are incorporate with the centerpiece, she sent me some pics where they were. But I could totally be wrong. I know she did quote me $80 for tealights around the pool, which to me is TOTALLY silly since I can buy 100 for $5 at Ikea. But I think I am going to suck it up for the $55 for the centerpieces since I don't see myself lugging stuff down there for the centerpieces and then wanting to lug it back.

Jill can't wait to see the pics of your welcome bags!! My fiance wants to wait to make them until we are down there so we don't have to carry all the stuff down there which is totally making me panic but I am going to see how I feel closer to the wedding!

I bought LED tealights on ebay because I am afraid that it will be windy and the real ones will just blow out. The place I bought them from has floating LEDs too. Really good prices too!

eBay Store - Six Star Sales: Wedding-Cristmas String LIGHTS, Battery String Fairy Light LED, Eiffel Towers Vases-All Extras

Karen - cute tile idea. I hope they turn out good!

Jessica - I would totally freak if we waited to make the bags when we got to MX. But I definitely think it can be done... buy bolsas, maracas and the other OOT junk then assemble. OK maybe I wouldn't freak it kinda sounds better than lugging 10 suitcases around.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
