DREAMS PUERTO VALLARTA "thread"

Recommended Posts

I am in the middle of reserving a block of rooms at dreams for our wedding weekend and I have to estimate how many rooms in the tower vs. deluxe (standard) rooms will be needed... I was wondering what percentage ended up staying in the Preferred Tower? Did you have more guests in one or the other?

The "new" tower is soooooo much nicer. Not sure how much more it is but I'm hoping to have all my guests stay there. I guess no one has gotten any upgrades? You'd think if you had so many guests coming to your wedding you might be able to get them all upgraded to the newer part...... :s

when we were at dreams, we stayed in the older tower and toured the newer tower...and like mentioned above, the newer tower is way better. we decided on the older tower so we can experience the less pricer room, and joy wanted to hold the new tower experience for when we go back for the big day!

what we plan on doing is going over our list of family and friends and describing both, so we can get a better idea of where they're at. especially since, if i'm remembering correctly, to stay in the newer tower the cost is about $50/night more per person. but trust me, we're really going to push for everyone to stay at the newer tower for the really fantastic room vs a nice room.

Autumn, thanks so much for posting your receipt template!

For the rooms, out of the 20 that we blocked I think we did 13 in the old tower & 7 jr suites in the new tower. We talked to people before to sort of get a sense of who would want to stay where and it turned out that most people wanted the older rooms. They felt like they're not going to be in the room all that much so weren't inclined to pay more for the nicer rooms.

We reserved more old tower rooms but ended up having 1/2 and 1/2. (Didn't really matter for us, because we didn't have to "fill" our block anyway.) No one got upgraded - the hotel was pretty much sold out. People who saw both said the main difference was the size of the bathroom. People in both were both really happy.

I'm back!!! Congrats Jill and Aut - sad I didn't get to see you gals but I'm sure your weddings were fab!!!

Dreams was great - a few minor problems I'll tell you about in my review. Mostly don't expect any upgrades even with a block of 30 rooms. They did however upgrade some of our guests to Penthouse suites for no reason and not us....that was the most irritating part but mostly it was great! Will write a review later :)

Here is our wedding set up though in the meantime :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
