DREAMS PUERTO VALLARTA "thread"

Sarah you have to download your pic to Photobucket, then take the URL code they give you and post in in your message. Then your photo should post!

Merve thank you SO MUCH!! For the awesome recon mission information! I am super jealous u both got to go on a recon. We are just going on blind faith but the information from all the girls on here and you have settled any nerves I may have. We are getting married on Oceana Beach too, so I am glad to hear it is awesome and we are having our reception on Las Palmas. Is Oceana very private, like Karen said no one wants the 300lb man in the speedo in the background of all the wedding photos :)?

Raul thanks for the feedback. I knew choosing to not have the photographer that Dreams provides will not lower my price. I am flying in my photog so I just wanted to make sure he will not be bothered by the other photog. But I still plan on using the Dreams videographer.

Thanks everyone... I am calling her today. We are already booked there so moving 4 weeks before would be out of the question. My fiance speaks perfect spanish so I am having him make sure we get all of our questions answered. I will post an update later....

wish me luck!

I am getting married at Dream April 17,2010!!! I have a few questions/worries! I havent been there so need help if possible!

a) I booked the Gazbo...is the Oceana Beach Front nicer or better?

B) Rebecca hasnt anwsered the past 2emails I sent usually she is good with this wonder what is going on??

c) Also I booked to have my reception in the ballroom scared to being dripping hot from being outside....do yall think I should change it? Has anyone seen the ballroom? I am kinda thinking the pool area may be a better choice! HELP!

d) Does anyone have any good reccomendations on the food choices for the plated ceremony menu?

HELP :)

Sarah your pictures are amazing! You were such a beautiful bride!! Seeing such beautiful pictures sets the mind at ease that is for sure!! I can't wait for May to get here!

Bethany, we have tons of info on this thread so make sure you check out some past posts and you will get a great idea of the resort and what areas are the best for you. But in the mean time here is my take:

1. Between the Gazebo and the beach from my understanding they are both really nice, it is just whether you want to get married on the beach or not. Alot of people opt for the gazebo since they will be wearing heels, which would making walking on the beach hard.

2. Rebeca is really busy and has to deal with multiple weddings and multiple brides and emails a day. So don't stress she will get back to you, but sometimes it takes a couple of days. There is only one of her and tons of us. If you have any questions that could be answered by past brides or brides who are planning feel free to ask us here on the forum. The girls on here are a wealth of knowledge and experience.

3. According to WeatherUnderground the average temp for your wedding on April 17 is around 80, so I don't think you need to have an inside reception, especially if it is at night when the avg low is 68. I am getting married a month after you and having my reception outside, but it really comes down to personal preference.

4. Again search the dinner option here on this thread. Lauren has a great review of her wedding including the meals. Merve just posted a great review from his recon trip to the resort. With just some more research you should have a better idea of what you want to do.

I got married their in March, and I believe the Gazebo was a great choice for us, we had the ceremony around 5pm with the sun setting, but the Gazebo gave enough shade to make the guest comfortable. GREAT VIEW BTW!!! The boys still sweated a little, so I recommend the Gazebo, besides, your ABOVE the beach, so get a view without a view of half naked people watching ur ceremony. I liked the Gazebo, more private and very cool walk down so my husband couldn't see me until I turned the corner around the bushes.

HAVE UR RECEPTION OUTSIDE TRUST ME!! The ballroom is at the back of the resort, so kinda away from the beautiful Beach. We had our reception at Las Palmas Terrace, by the Gazebo near the pool. Again, best choice!! You have the sun setting behind some trees, so it's not hot at all around dinner time. Then in the evening, it's great for dancing...and Do what I did...JUMP IN THE POOL!(and the ocean) And Its MEXICO, who wants to be inside in MEXICOhuh.gif?

also, everyone in the old tower can look down on ur wedding and wish they were there!! Haha. When we jumped in the pool, it was like paparazzi on the balconies of the rooms, everyopne was flashin' pics and shouting yeah to us! it was AWSOME!!

The nxt day everyone at the resort is like "Did u see that wedding last night? They JUMPED IN THE POOL". I said...Yeah that was me actually!! I loved it!!

Well there is my 2 cents. I do recommend those locations though. If u get married by the resturants, everyone can watch. The Gazebo, people only get a glimpse and wish they could see more! Heehee.. ;0

Thanks for Toya's info Jess!

Sarah - your pictures are AMAZING!

Racer - regarding the airport taxi - if you don't mind taking the pedestrian bridge across the street from the airport, you can catch a "regular" taxi on the other side of the street and it's cheaper.

I had some of Karen's concerns about onlookers on the beach, but FI really wanted to do it on the beach, and we thought we were going to have too many to do it on the gazebo (turns out we could probably squeeze in there since the economy really hurt our guest list!). Everyone says you don't even notice people, and I plan on letting our photographer know I don't want randoms in my background. I was actually going to make a portable screen to bring to put behind us, but FI said I'm crazy. We're doing our cocktail hour on the gazebo and the reception on the Terrace.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
