DREAMS PUERTO VALLARTA "thread"

Recommended Posts

Hi Jaclyn (that's my sister's name!)

We are using Elizabeth Lloyd. We primarily looked at PV photogs because they were cheaper even with just paying travel expenses for out of area photogs and there are a number of talented PV photogs!

We also really seriously considered Carlos Melnick and someone else i've forgotten his name now. Finally decided on Elizabeth even though she is more expensive just because we loved her style. Carlos seemed like an excellent deal and also had great pictures. They were all very responsive. This was probably our hardest decision!!!

Ladies...has anyone with a wedding in 2010 received 2010 pricing yet? I asked Rebeca couple months ago if it had come out yet, she said no but that they would honor some 2009 pricing. But without the pricing she said I am unable to put down my deposit, which even thought she assures me my date is set in stone without the deposit I am a tad bit nervous!

Hey Jessica. Are you talking about for the actual wedding package? We faxed in our deposit of $500 (credit card info) to Rebeca back in January for next May, but she didn't put the charge through until the middle of May at which time she sent an email confirming the charge went through & that our date was definitely secured. I'm not sure what she means about not being able to take a deposit w/o the 2010 pricing; in her correspondence to me back in January she said while they didn't have the rates yet for '10 they'd probably be pretty similar so she said she could make the reservation and wait for the rates. Not sure if that helps you, but maybe email Rebeca & ask if you can make a reservation now to hold your spot?

For the hotel stay we're using a TA so we gave her our deposit for our room separately from what we sent Rebeca. But, she was able to book us a few months ago for next May so I would think you should be able to book, especially if you're using a TA.

Did anyone else have a similar experience?

I'm not sure what having the prices has to do with reserving a date? I am using a TA and she booked and took the deposit for my travel and room. She also booked my wedding package, but I sent Rebeca the $500 deposit. Make sure you follow up on the deposit to Rebeca becuase somehow mine was MIA for 3 months.

I'm sure it will all work out :)

Rebeca told me she wouldn't run my credit card for the deposit until I booked our room for my FI and I. We didn't book our trip until a few months after that, so the deposit didn't show up on my account until then. not sure if that helps at all...

She should be able to take a credit card to hold the wedding date - and she did promise me my date even though my card hadn't been run through yet

Thanks girls for all the good info. She just wrote me and said I needed my booking number from making my hotel reservations. So I just wrote my TA to get that so I can send it to Rebeca and then get my deposit for my wedding package paid. I was just confused from before she had told me that she couldn't cash a deposit for me until 2010 pricing had come out.

Thanks Again!!

Hey I have a question for Dreams PV brides! I know there is a tipping thread, but I didn't really see the answer to this there.

For Dreams AI resorts specifically, what have you past brides done for tipping, or what do you future brides plan to do? I have to be honest, I hadn't even thought about this! I didn't put in our budget or anything.

I am just planning on bringing $100-$200 in cash for tips since we will be there 10 days. I remember reading somewhere that Rebeca couldn't accept tips, but someone sent her beautiful flowers...I could be wrong on that. But I was just planning to bring the case to tip the maids and the bartenders and such. We probably wouldn't go through the $200 but for us being there 10 days it gives us about $10 a day to tip, one or two to the maid each day and then to the bartender....crap if we drink a lot it may be closer to the $200blush2.gif

So I wouldn't plan on adding too much to your budget, just a little extra! They do claim all "tipping" is included, but always feel just a little extra is always nice for how hard they work at the resorts!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
