Klila - Your TA and Dreams were probably quoting the price if you take the govt sanctioned airport taxis. If you don't mind walking a little, you cross the street outside of the airport you can catch a "regular" taxi and it is cheaper.

Congratulations Sarah!!! I can't wait to hear all about it!

Sarah congrats and welcome back. Such great news to hear you were blown away by the Dreams. Yea!

Did you do any organized events there. I was thinking of using a few ideas I read on here and having a casual Welcome Party at Barracuda Bar.

Does anyone know if this is okay. I figured we could capitalize on the all-inlcusive thing. Plus keep our guests at the resort for the first night.

BTW

I am booking Dazzling Details, it sounds like everything will go smooth this way, since I am trying to put things together in such a short time.

I am still unsure if we will have our wedding at the resort, I liked K&RWeddings idea of going to a private villa. All my guests are really close friends who would all enjoy each other and I think they would like the privacy. Any feedback from anyone would be great. I tried to PM K&RWedding but see she is banned so I couldn't reach her.

I also hired a photographer, whom jsut happen to have an opening the weekend we are getting married. It was meant to be.

I still have to do everything else. I mean everything. Each day is like a big checklist.

Quick question ladies. Has anyone run into a T.A. telling you that in order to request a block of rooms that you have to put up $100 per room to hold the rooms. And as soon as someone books we get a refund of the $100?? It just doesn't seem right to me. And also are the T.A. actually cheaper than going thru the hotel for guests to book their trips?

Hey Jessica - yes this is normal we had to do the same thing with putting money up front to reserve the block...also our TA was cheaper than the hotel direct - I know it was odd to me too - I still don't really get that!

If you book through the hotel direct you have to put 10% of total estimated revenue down (this is what the Sales Manager told me in January)

We had to do $100/ room as well. It's just to ensure that they aren't losing business by blocking off rooms (for free) that may never be reserved. It's like a "holding fee."

Also, I found that booking via TA is always MUCH cheaper. They have "bartering" abilities and can often work our a better flight + hotel deal than the hotels and flight companies can separately, ESPECIALLY if you're booking as a group. I think it really depends on who you go through though...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
