I am getting married at Dreams PV a few weeks before you - February 24... I had my bridezilla moments a week or so ago when I couldn't get in touch with Diana for a month! Turns out there were issues with their email... a few phone calls back and forth and everything was sorted out...

I can't help you with a photographer - we are bringing our own... We really lucked out.

What day do you arrive? We are staying for two weeks.

PM me if you want to ask anything more specific - I would be glad to help wherever I can... I know the PV area quite well - have been there several times and my mom has been going annually for the past 12 years.

Jenn

Hey Arlyn!

Well, I'm afraid you've come a bit of a biased thread, it seems to me-- hopefully the girls won't mind my generalization-- that we are all soo pleased with the new WC and our experiences so far.

I'd recommend chatting with some of the Los Cabos Dreams members too. Go through the reviews for both Dreams PV and Los Cabos and see which suits your needs better.

I'm definitely a fan of PV, and a big pull back from Los Cabos is that the rip tide is dangerous for not-so-avid swimmers... of which I have several.

I'm sure whichever you choose will be great!

Hey Arlyn - I visited Dreams Los Cabos and fell in love. The place is breathtaking - but then I got the room pricing for my guests - $400 double occupancy in November...I didn't want to do that to my guests so I picked PV and my room block is almost 1/2 the price (at least on the deluxe rooms). I'm hoping to fall just as much in love with Dreams PV when I get there - and I am sure I will!

Plus, I like PV better than Cabo...Cabo is more of a desert, PV is more green and lush

Jenn, I'm so excited for you! Reading your (Jamie's) mini-review got me super excited about picking Dreams - even if it is over a year away still! I can't wait. I hope everything works out perfectly for you and I cannot wait to read your review & see pics!

And I totally agree w/ all the girls about the DJ thing. Best to not have to worry about it & pay a little extra for some peace of mind.

Good luck & have a wonderful time! :)

I just asked Rebeca about the rehearsal dinner situation. I told her I had heard different things about charing $35 per person etc. etc.

She told me in simple terms, that my guests and I are welcome to show up at any restaurant, they just will not take reservations. She said that charge is for anything that requires personal wait staff.

I'm sure some of you know this already, but I was glad to get it cleared up.

I thinking to set the rehearsal dinner for either early or late to get on either end of the "dinner" crowd. My group is really low key.

Anyone know as far as best times to eat at the restaurants? busiest times? etc?

I'm just posting everything on our website for "calendar of events" so everyone will know what time to meet.

Hey Jill!

Yeah, I totally agree. Although it's a little less convenient, it is faaaar more economical to arrange a group meeting at an agreed upon restaurant. Something to note is that they cap the table size to 10ppl, so if you have more than that you will be split up.

Other than that, it's definitely cheaper! Rebeca mentioned that the busiest times for the restaurants is between 6 and 8pm, usual dinner hours. I'd say, have a late lunch or little visit to the snack bar and then a lovely late dinner. That way you have a better chance of getting in as a big group.

just to reitertate what was already said, large parties will be separated. two nights before our wedding, we tried to have our group of 22 seated at portofino around 8pm. we waited about 45 minutes and then were split into 3 tables of 6 and a table of 4 spread around the room. we didn't mind b/c by then it was mostly cleared out, but we were scolded quite a few times for being too loudsmile72.gif

Dreams Puerto Vallarta Resorts & Spas: Plan Your Wedding

We are paying extra for a DJ (arranged by the resort and will be available for the ceremony and reception) for $750 (will not be playing during cocktails as we have the mexican trio for that included in the package).

We are also adding some fireworks for about $400.

We have 20 guests (that is what the package includes) plus 9 off resort guests that we are paying $55 per person for (includes drinks and food). As long as they come within 30 minutes of the ceremony, we do not have to pay for a day pass...

We are bringing a photog with us.

I do have the info that was sent by the resort this past May but doing everything a la carte seemed more expensive than going with the package and adding the extras that we wanted... We are not getting anything extra as far as decor (I am bringing my own table runners and will purchase some glassware down there for centrepieces, etc). The only other extras may be some flowers but 2 bouquets, 2 boutonnieres and 2 centrepiece flowers are included in the package.

All the pricing provided above was done last May/June and is for my wedding in February.

Please feel free to contact me if you need more info! I think I have asked pretty much every question to the resort!!!

Jenn

thanks for the info and kind words!
I also posted the same question to their forum (Los Cabos) but only few replied to this.

Anyway, my first choice really was in Los Cabos. im just undecided if in Dreams or Riu. But when I saw Tammy's review and some of her wedding pictures, I felt that Dreams would be a perfect place for my wedding.

Not until seeing wedding pics from Dreams PV and reading some reviews about it. I got a little confused.

What I am certain is I like Dreams resort and I would want to get married there but for the exact place I'm still weighing between Los Cabos and PV.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
