Lauren,

Your photos are AMAZING! Absolutely stunning, and looking through your review and gallery made me soooo much more excited! (which I thought was IMPOSSIBLE!)

Thank you so much for taking the time to review and report back. It's definitely helped me out already. Thanks girls!

Hey Jess,

I agree, a welcome "first night" dinner is a great idea. We are looking at hosting a fun night at the Cheeky Monkey, which is just down the beach at the edge of the Malecon. Its supposed to be a great, fun and popular place-- Almost every travel review for the Dreams PV mentions it.

If you're looking for something a little less "pubby" and a little more chic, I've head that Le Kliff is a great venue to host dinner.

We decided it was an additional +$100 expense we didn't need and just handed them out at the welcome party or as people arrived. However, I was a little disappointed because i thought it would be so fun for people to open doors and have their bags...
I definitely agree that the extra $3 per room ends up being a useless expense. Rebeca (New WC) said it's basically a tip for the people delivering them. I asked if I could just get a room list from the front desk, so that we could deliver them personally -- a great way to say hello, and welcome -- and she said she could definitely arrange it.

Agreed, though. It would be nice to have the surprise awaiting in the room.

By the Wayofftopic2.gif-- Fun Welcome Basket Idea:

I bought a bulk pack of tiny shells from Michaels and a spool of purple thread (my accent color). My BMs and I are going to lace one shell onto a necklace / Bracelet length thread and turn each one into a "wish chain." The idea is that you make a wish on the shell, and then you knot the thread on, and when it breaks your wish comes true. It's cute and romantic, made a very cheap and easy addition to the wedding baskets.

I have to second your comment about Rebeca! She is amazing... I cannot wait to meet her in a couple of weeks!

We have chosen not to do programs or menus... mainly because I ran out of time and as far as the program goes, it wasn't important to me... I wanted to do a signature drink but haven't been able to get organized enough to design something for the bar - check out Lauren's stuff - it is awesome for the menus and the signature drinks!!!

I am totally excited (like almost jumping out of my skin excited!) we leave in 16 more sleeps and I can't wait to see how it all comes together!!

Sarah - we'll just miss each other... we leave to come home on the 7th...

Hey Jenn,

I am curious, do you know if the concoctions involved for the signature drinks is extra, or just a touch they'll add to your reception if you request it?

I hadn't even considered this idea until this forum, You brilliant brides ROCK!smile03.gif

I have no idea if it will cost anything more - was going to email Rebeca to see... but I am running out of time so we may not even go with Signature drinks...

Hey Jess,

Here's the website for the Cheeky Monkey CHEEKY MONKEY ONE DOLLAR BEERS & MARGARITAS EVERYDAY!

It's very, very casual, but looks like a TON of fun. They have $1 beers and margaritas, always ingredients for a good time. lol

Apparently they have great food aswell, there is a review on tripadvisor.com, and it's nothing but raves!

Hey Jess

If you seach Dreams PV on tripadvisor.com and tehn scroll down to the bottom right-hand corner of the page you will find "hotels nearby" and it lists several alternatives to AIs in the area.

Hope that helps!
Cheers!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
