DREAMS PUERTO VALLARTA "thread"

Recommended Posts

Hi Kcar,

I just hired DJ Chris Love (http://djchrislove.wix.com/weddingdjvallarta)  - he was recommended by my decorator Tamara Bradley (she's great too).  I checked references on him and also spoke to him via skype.  My wedding is on June 1, 2013 so I can let you know more after our wedding.

Thanks,

Hi Ladies!  I have been searching through this thread for specific info on this an I just can't find anything.  Can any past Dreams PV brides help?!

I'm getting married on May 25th at Dreams with our ceremony and reception on the beach.  My FI and I are planning on bringing a portable Bose systems and using an ipod for music, but it isn't compatible with a microphone.  I'm guessing we will need a microphone for the ceremony and for the reception.  Any thoughts on how to work this out, other than paying the big bucks to rent the resorts sound system?

Thanks to you all!

hola Richelle

I work for dreams Villamagna in nuevo vallarta, I do highly recomend the sound system for the ceremony, if you have over 10 guests, otherwise they won't be abble to hear the all ceremony, sometimes the price of the resorts rentals can be high, but it totally worth it, the services that they provide are 100% guarantee. bringing your own sound system can be more cost efective , but also stressfull at the moment of run it, becuase some of your guests member have to be taking care of it, remember is your special day and moment, it have to be perfect. :) if you need any assiance or more info please let me know. :)

I'm getting married January 27th and can't justify spending that amount of money to rent a sound system. We just booked a DJ for the ceremony and reception for $650 plus $100 to dreams for the outside vendor fee. Music is really important to us as we want our guests to have a good time.

Hi Kate, congrats!  We got married there in March, so I can help to answer a few questions.  1st, we used DJ Staci (DJ Reventon??) I think?  She did a good job for us!  She can also perform your ceremony and she speaks English...she is American.  We had a legal ceremony performed by a judge and she spoke English....pretty much everyone there does.  2nd, the hair and makeup they did at the salon at Dreams was fantastic!  I also do not wear a lot of makeup and I have freckles so I was nervous about that...I have had my makeup done for other weddings and hated it since I always looked washed out.  Eduardo did my hair and makeup and I loved it!  My whole wedding party was pretty much like me...doesnt wear a lot of makeup and everyone looked beautiful!  Good luck with your planning!

danasb788 this is very helpful! I haven't done much research on DJ's yet, is DJ Staci one of the DJ's the resort offers or did you have to pay the vendor fee to bring her to the resort? Do you have contact info for her? These were very good questions! Thanks Kate G!

I tried to hire DJ Staci for my wedding (after reading good things about her on this blog).  She has actually moved out of PV and is back in the states, but she still does wedding planning/coordinating for weddings in PV.  I hired both my DJ and officiant through her.  She is really responsive and has had lots of good recommendations for all sorts of wedding stuff.  And she is really familiar with the resort too, so she was able to give me an outsider's insight into weddings there.  The people she hires out are people that she personally knows and has worked with.  I haven't had my wedding yet, but so far, everything has been great working with Staci!  Her contact info is at puertovallartawed.com.  The site will lead you to believe she's still in PV doing weddings herself, so it isn't very current, but you can at least get her contact info there.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
