Oh!  And I LOVE the yoga on the beach in the morning.  I have thought about doing that too!!  :-)

Hi ladies,

We are staying there in June for our wedding. We are getting married at Las Caletas. I wanted to have a Welcome Dinner at Dreams the night before the wedding. Do any of you know how much it costs to reserve space at one of the restuarants? Do they take reservations for a large group (approx 50 people)?

Thanks,

Jennifer

We reserved space with the wedding coordinator and once we arrived we spoke to the manager of the oceana to make sure they could accomodate, we had 38 guests!

And as for a day pass i believe for a wedding pass its $132 pp the guests can come 30 min prior to wedding and must leave 30 min after! kinda bs if you ask me!

They have an all day pass too and its about the same price very close at least cant remember but the guest can only stay till 6 they say!

Hey Star! This is the info I have regarding outside guests:

If they come half an hour before the wedding starts and stay no later than half an hour after they can come for free.
If they come at 9am and stay until 6 during your time here the cost is $94 per person per day.
If they come from 9am - 11pm the cost is $132 per person per day.
If they come at any other time during the day the costs are dependant on how many hours they are stayting.
If they want to just stay late after the wedding the cost is $20 per person per hour however they can only stay until 1am at the latest.
All external guests must be reported to the WC well in advance to inform security. We will need to know exactly who is coming, and exactly what dates and times.
Surprise visitors will not be permitted access to the resort without concent from the wedding coordinator. If they come half an hour before the wedding starts and stay no later than half an hour after they can come for free.

Hi Jennifer - we should chat - I'm doing Dreams with our wedding at Las Caletas in May!

I tried really hard to set up a welcome dinner and/or drinks with the Dreams for when we arrive, but found it impossible. They wanted $5,000 for a dinner at the Oceana restaurant, and $85/person for drinks/cocktails on the beach! It was ridiculous.

After months of going back and forth with the concierge on options, I finally decided to drop the idea. I can send you the ridiculous email threads if you like. I'm still going to show up at the Oceana the night I arrive with my guests in the hopes that they can just accommodate all of us for dinner, and then I'm going to suggest we all meet at the pool bar for cocktails afterwards. I tried a bunch of ideas - renting out a suite (they wanted thousands for that too) and it all just seemed ridiculous. They wanted a lot of money...more than what I'm paying for the wedding at Caletas!

If you have better luck than I did, please let me know!

Hi Kenna,

Its good to know someone else is in the same position. They also quoted me that amount to rent out a restaurant. The price is ridiculous. I looked into River Cafe in the downtown area and that is also pricey (at least in my opinion). They want $38 per person for 3 course meal and $10 pp for drinks plus 15% gratuity.  We have about 50 people coming. We wanted to have our welcome dinner on Friday night at El Patio at Dreams but the restaurant is closed that night due to the Mexican Fiesta they have. So, we're either going to have a bonfire on the beach (still need to get a quote on that and it might be redundant since Las Caletas has one as well), attend the Mexican Fiesta they have or just have welcome drinks at one of their bars. I'm confused on what to do.

Hi Jennifer,

I'm confused too! I also debated the bonfire thing, but thought it would totally kill the special-ness factor for the Caletas bonfire.

The Mexican fiesta actually could be a super viable option for you - I was at the Dreams last year and it turned out to be really neat. Tables fill up fast though, so you would have to get there early to get enough to seat your party. I have about 50 guests as well.

I have a feeling my welcome dinner/drinks at the one of the restaurants and pool bar is going to end up being a bit chaotic without Dreams on-board to help me out with it, but it just seems silly to pay so much money when we're already forking out so much for the wedding itself. I really wished they had something a little bit more basic available for people in our situation. I don't mind paying some $$ for something special, but would want to keep it under $1,000 .

On another note, we should talk about the change in wedding coordinators at Caletas. I'd be interested to hear your take on it. If you are interested in chatting further, you can ping me for my contact details through my website - kennaranson.com.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
