DREAMS PUERTO VALLARTA "thread"

Recommended Posts

We're doing the free package because we are having our own photographer come AND we didn't want to pay an extra $20 a person for the "cocktail" hour.  So we're doing the free package and paying $45 a person for the dinner.  We're doing the champagne toast after the ceremony and 10 ppl are included in the free package and then we are paying a few dollars for each person over that.  My thoughts are people can mingle with their champange and hang out for the hour we're doing photos.  Our guests wouldn't want us to spend $20 a person just for some appetizers.  That would be $1,000 just for some snacks and drinks for one hour!

Chairs (with white covers) are included in any of the packages (no matter how many guests).  If you want to upgrade to the wooden chavari chairs it's an extra cost per person.  We're still getting good treatment, although I think every bride wants more attention than she's getting ;-)

I asked Fatima yesterday about taxes. I have a final contract that I signed and asked her what the tax would be on the wedding or if they were included in the price on my contract. She told me the prices on my contract included taxes. If I were you I would double check with her at the time of signing your contract, and bring that email with you. Our taxes would of been just over $1000 if we were charged on top of what was in our contract.

Also, I don't know if it is because I am only a month out from my wedding, but Fatima has been extra nice and quick to respond to emails. Hopefully no more changes with in the next month.

I leave in exactly 1 month, SOOOO EXCITED!!! woot.gif

Hope that helps!

Hey Kerrib! You are getting sooooo close!!!!  Is everything pretty much done??  Fatima has been really nice and responsive with me too all of a sudden!  And she also said taxes are already included in my contract.  Whoot!!!  I'll bring that email with me for sure.

I'm pretty much done with making decisions (though I change my mind all the time!).  I can't wait to get a head count and finalize everything!!!!!!

I am not doing the free package but just to give you an idea about pricing. We have the Ultimate package and will have 68 people, so we are paying for 48 additional guest. Our ceremony is $3814 and our reception is $3268. That includes everything, ceremony, champagne toast, cocktail hour, reception, dinner, etc. Although, we are not having a DJ, we are hooking our iPod up to the sound system, but the rental of the sound system is included. Also, we are not having a dance floor or centerpieces. Let me know if you have any questions.

What did/are you doing for dinner if you have the free package? I know i must seem really cheap but the fiance and i are trying to organize going to jamaica for a week directly from mexico and need to work that into the buget. as well as all our guest are extremely laid back, we dont care if everything is set up and organized to the T for us... thats what mothers are for, or at least thats what she says. :P

anyone get the free package have any pictures of what to expect the ceremony to look like without paying for extras? What you did to dress it up( if it was needed at all?)

YOUR HELP WOULD BE AMAZING LADIES...

Thank you!

Bailey

We are soo excited! We just booked a fishing trip for the groomsmen as their gift. We are talking with the woman who will do our ceremony to finalize what she'll say. We need to figure out the photography, too. We can't decide if we should add on a package or just pay for all the photos extra at the end. I really want to add on a TTD package. Other than that I have to pick up my dress from the tailors, and then figure out how to pack up all of our stuff and get it on the plane!

I, too, keep changing my mind. My FI told me to stop yesterday before I drive myself, him, and the WC crazy!

We paid either $800 or $850 for the sound-system (ceremony & reception), dance-floor, and 3 hrs DJ service. The sound-system and dance-floor were only going to be about $50 cheaper so we opted to use the DJ for the extra little bit. Either way would have been fine as we could have just let the ipod play through, but having someone else not involved in the wedding to control the music was a nice option. The only annoying thing was that sometimes the DJ would play his songs and some that kinda sucked, but then we just asked him to change it if we didn't like his song choice. I'd do it again for the $50 extra, but wouldn't pay hundreds. It was only a small amount more because of the packaged option...if you left out anyone of the 3 items (say just DJ and sound-system), the DJ cost was WAY more.

Ohhh fun!  We are also thinking of doing a fishing trip or excursion for the groomsmen.  Did you book through Vallarta Adventures?  Are they doing it the morning of the wedding?  I can't believe you only have a month left!  I have 4 and am starting to get SO excited I can barely contain myself.  And I've got a ways to go LOL

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
