Hi there,

We did have the bonfire and we brought our ipod docking system and ipod out and played music.  There is a table for the hot chocolate and cookies and we placed it on there and cranked it. Everyone enjoyed the music and there were no issues from the resort playing our own music.  They are pretty relaxed and leave you to your fun.  We had a server who provided excellent service and kept the drinks flowing.  The cookies got rave reviews and the marshmallows are the biggest we have ever seen.  The bonfire was a big hit with our guests.  Well worth it.

Ok, need help from past and present Dreams Brides. I am having group rate and booking issues with Dreams. I put down a deposit of $800 for 10 deluxe rooms w/o balcony and signed a contract in October. The group rate I got was good for Aug 15-23, now two of the days are blocked out because I have 10 guests booked that have used the group code. I was told if I ran out of rooms, I could ask for more and not have to pay additional money and this was stated in an email. I emailed and asked for more rooms to be released and was told I had to pay for more rooms to be released. I replyed with a copy of the email and was told that person no longer works there (SURPRISE!) and they "must of made a mistake". I even asked to be put in contact with the manager for group rates and was not answered. Then I was told they would "work" on getting me more rooms. What were/are your parameters for your group rates? Also, what happens if you do not use all of your rooms or have additional random days left over (ie some days are booked full and others were not)?

I'm getting married at Dreams on June 18th and have been on this site for about 6 months and have read almost this entire thread.  I can't tell you how helpful it has been to read everyone's comments about this resort.

I sometimes get angry about all the changes in price etc. and really almost decided to get married off resort but for ease decided to keep my original plans intact and will be getting married in the gazebo with the reception on the beach (ultimate package).  I want to have a buffet but haven't asked Esman about pricing because I think Rebeca quoted me a price that I cannot find now.  Does anyone know how much more it is to have a buffet instead of a sit down dinner?  Thanks!

VollyDolly: We're paying $45 per person for the buffet.  There is a cheaper sit down menu for $40 (Golden Dinner Menu).  I'd love to hear what others are doing though and if my rates are the same!!!

Kerrib:  We held 25 rooms with Vacations for Less and have until September to release up to half of the room block.  If we release after Sept we forfeit the deposit on those rooms... if we release after Oct. 2 we pay in full.  And our block is Nov 15 - 20.

Hope that helps!

How many people are attending your wedding? According to their website you need a minimum of 60 people for a buffet (however they may make exceptions...for a price of course). Again, according to their website the buffet ranges from $45 - $60 / person depending on the menu option you choose... that could also be old pricing as from what I recall this was the same as about a year ago, but I may be mistaken. Here is the link http://www.dreamsresorts.com/drepv/wedding-extras.html.

Hi we are booked for our wedding with Dreams April 23.  We opted out of the group rate because we could not at the time tell them exactly how many we would need.  I was told in order to qualify for a group rate you had to gauruntee the number of rooms and that you would be paying the difference for those not booked.  We ended up just booking as guests confirmed so that they could choose what rrom they wanted.

Are you going with the free package?  I have the ultimate package which comes with a sit down dinner for 20 guests.  I'm having about 30 guests.  Esman told me if I went with the free package it would be $30 per person for the cocktail hour and $45 per person for a 3 hour reception dinner including a plated dinner.  I opted to go for the package instead of paying $75.00 per person(which I thought was outrageous).  He also told me they do not change the packages because I was thinking of just having a heavy hors d'oeuvres type of reception to save money.  I still may try to find someone there who will let me change the package once I get there.  It has to be cheaper for them to not have to have plated dinners and since I am paying for 20 anyway why can't I just have heavy hors d'oeuvres??  Just trying to save some money and my fiance doesn't want to have a formal sit down dinner.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
