DREAMS PUERTO VALLARTA "thread"

We had our bonfire in January 2011 and we paid $300 total ... 3 months ago and that was the 2011 pricing (no mention of up to certain amount of people etc). We had 23 people. I think this resort needs to be boycotted...there customer service sucks and just seems to be getting worse. Sorry...a little rant...it just ticks me off when I keep reading that type of nonsense. Stick to your guns...$300 and not a penny more!

I will try my darndest! I am just waiting for a reply right now.

Also, I keep trying to get an answer on how to get the Wine Cellar one evening but he never asnwers that question. Do you girls know? I assume just sweet talk to the waiter one night to reserve it for us or show up extra early and request it while promising to buy extra wine...

I'm not sure about the wine cellar, but below is what I received on Dec. 21 '10 from Louise in regards to the bonfire (I see now however on your posts that your wedding is January 2012 so it's possible that is 2012 pricing, but still there is no reason for such an increase...that's absurd and I still wouldn't go for it in my opinion...):

It is a total of $300 and that includes chairs around a bonfire with marshmellows, hot chocolate and cookies. And a waiter and full bar service.

All-- I'm getting married at Dreams in about a month and a half, and I was wondering if anyone has recently gotten a Dreams groups coordinator to help organize a pub crawl or club outing in downtown PV.  We are having a welcome bonfire ($250, quoted by Rebeca, the old Dreams wedding coordinator, in July 2010) on Thursday from 8:30 to 10:30, and then afterwards, we were thinking the young people could go party downtown.  The problem is I have no idea which clubs are fun/safe/not super-expensive/require bottle service, etc., and which clubs would be OK letting in a group of about 30 people.

Any recent brides, did you have any favorite bars or clubs downtown?  Especially ones that are not really touristy?

On another note, does anyone have any pictures of the "Sports Bar" at Dreams that they could share?  I understand our wedding has to be off the beach by 10:30pm, and we plan to continue the party at the Sports Bar, but I have no idea what to expect/if I should try to bring some sort of decorations, etc?

I would post on their facebook about the bars and clubs. We made friends with the activity coordinators and they came and found us every night to see if we wanted them to take us out in the town (for like $20/person). PV is not as touristy as Cancun or Cabo so most of the clubs are not dance on the tables crazy, especially if you go on a night when there is no cruise ship docked. We enjoyed Mandala, but no idea if it is still popular.

While we were there the Sports Bar was always empty. So we enjoyed closing down the Lobby Bar and then the people still partying would head over to the Sports Bar. And really it's not a Sports Bar, it just has a dance floor with sound system, a couple of tables, a bar and a big screen that wasn't always on. IMHO I would not bring decorations or anything for after the wedding, you are going to be exhausted and who knows... you might not even make it to the after party ;)

I'm getting married on May 21st at Dreams and we are doing welcome cocktails the Thursday before the wedding. I love the idea of a bar crawl afterwards! I hadn't even thought about that. I've been to downtown PV once or twice and went to a few bars but I can't for the life of me remember what they were called. If you get any information on how to set something like this up through the hotel please let me know. This is something I'd definitely be interested in doing also. Thanks for the idea!

I never made it to the bars this trip to PV (a few of the guys did however), but from previous trips we've been to Senior Frogs, Carlos O'Brians, Hard Rock Cafe, and Hilo. Senior Frogs and Hilo were my favs...more my style, modern dance music and a ton of fun. At Hilo we did dance on the bars!

Hi,

I got quotes $300 as well. Granted, he told me that without asking how many people were going. This was just a few days ago. I'll let you know if that cost changes now that he knows we're having approximately 30 ppl. Hopefully not. I never really asked the price - more of asked him to confirm the $300 if anything.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
