We really love it and I am actually really excited. I think this all happened for a reason. I feel so much better because contact has been awesome. We will still be having the bonfire and everything.

On a side note, I just got home from work. I'm outside of Chicago and don;t know if any of you have seen the crazy weather, but OMG! I'm a nurse and they called a disaster code, so we were not allowed to leave. I worked yesterday for 12 hrs, slept at the hospital, and got off at 7pm after another 12 hr shift. I'm exhausted! I hope anyone else hit with this weather is safe and warm!

Congrats on deciding on Le Kliff! It's absolutely gorgeous there & you're going to have a beautiful wedding! It's unfortunate you were kind of getting the run-around from Dreams, but I agree things happen for a reason & maybe this is what you're supposed to be doing. Also, the bonfire is so much fun -  you definitely won't regret doing that.

I'm from Chicago too (we're actually moving back this summer) & talked to my mom & sis-in-law Tues night & Wed. My sis-in-law emailed me pics of my niece/nephew in the snow- it was craziness!!  A total white-out w/ people skiing in the streets.

And OMG, I can't even imagine the disaster double-shift! Which hosp are you at? We had some of that out here too last month & though I'm not a staff nurse, 2 of my good friends had similar situations at NYU & Methodist. No one could make it into work.

Hopefully you're digging your way out of the igloo!

You aren't raining on anyone's parade in my opinion. Getting married is a huge deal (especially to the bride) and if there are issues then it's important for others to know so they have a heads up and can try to address things preemptively so hopefully they don't have the same issues. I'm sure your wedding will be fabulous! Even with the comedy of errors at our wedding it was still wonderful, beautiful, and full of great memories....now we laugh about the issues and the fact that we saved a chunk of cash on our wedding costs (still would rather it ran more smoothly, but since it didn't we'll take the savings and use it for another honeymoon)!!!!! msnparty.gif

When I saw that Louise was leaving, I e-mailed Esman.  I received a response the next day.   I told him I had heard that Louise was leaving and asked if he needed copies of all of my communications with Sam, Rebeca, and Louise.  He stated he had all communications.  So we will see.  I am getting married there in May and have been apprehensive since seeing all of the issues that people were having.  I am meeting with him the afternoon we arrive so we shall see what happens.  Good Luck!

I am wondering when most brides have or plan to send out their invitations to guests? 4 months before wedding date or 6 months before? I have just sent out my STDs (12 months in advance with travel agent info. on it). However with my locked in rate with Dreams all guests must book 45 days in advance ...SO when should I send out invites? I want people to have plenty of time to reserve rooms before they either are all booked and hopefully do not run out of rooms as I know Dreams tend to fill up quickly. Ok ladies let me know.... I am just afraid of Dreams running out of rooms or people not having enough time to book rooms.

I am getting married in May but sent out my invitations the first week in January.  I kept my response date consistant with when our travel agent stated the first payment was due, which is February 6th.  So far we have 16 people joining us...15 responses still outstanding!  Seeing that I am from Pittsburgh, I believe that people are thinking of the SuperBowl right now, had I known we would be playing in the SuperBowl  I would have given it an extra week.  I used a travel agent because it was much easier to have someone else handle all the questions.

Hi Everyone,

I really appreciate the posting of Esman's email.  I too have been having problems getting things confirmed with Louise.  She was increasing prices and changing timelines and I had a contract that Rebeca had drawn up.  I finally got an email confirming all arrangements with Rebeca would be honored but it was a frustrating time.  I emailed Esman and he emailed back the next day.  I am waiting for my updated contract since I confirmed numbers.  Will wait and see what it says.

that's too bad that you won't be going with dreams... i was actually thinking about going with le kliff too.. i'm getting pretty frustrated with their lack of responses. i've sent two so far and no response - is there something you're doing that is making them respond?

our wedding is may 24th so in a few months and they still haven't taken the deposit for the wedding. i know they confirmed the date is booked but i still feel a bit uneasy since they didn't take a deposit for the day. is my wedding still too far away for them to be taking the deposit? the other thing is that i was originally dealing with samantha.. i think she's the group coordinator. should i just be emailing the new WC Esman now instead? i honestly am pretty easy going about everything but the whole deposit outstanding thing makes me a bit stressed.

i think the only reason i'm not going with le kliff is because i really like the gazebo at dreams pv.. and i think it would just be easier.. but who knows?!

She now says that she told us they would honor the 2010 prices, but we have all the emails and that was never said. She was very gracious about us canceling. It was just too many things. First the change in coordinators, then all the price problems. One example: I asked if Oceana was still available for rent. She said no. Then 3 days later she said yes. We were in the process of pricing le Kliff - so the private space may have changed our minds. basically, for about the same cost, it seemed worth it. Actually, having it at LeKLiff is cheaper than renting Oceana. She said if she knew we would cancel, they would have been quicker to honor things - well I shouldn't have to threaten them to have them do that.  They have a corner on the wedding market, but they need to realize that they still need to give the brides a lot of attention (if wanted) and offer a competitive product.

m1984 - were you asking about communication with Le Kliff or Dreams? If it was Le Kliff, I don't know what you could do. Carlos emails me back within a few hours. I really loved the gazebo at Dreams too. But I love the the ceremony location at Le Kliff as well.

As far as the deposit, I would insist on paying it. We payed ours in July of last year for our wedding in April, so no it is not too early. But, I know that quite a few people here had issues with paying the deposit, so you're not alone. Try emailing Esman.

I had the same questions/concerns about the deposit and Esman explained that the deposit goes through when you actually book a hotel room.  I just booked my room through our travel agent and the next day the deposit had been posted.  Our wedding is in Nov. Strange but maybe that's the hold up!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
