The photographer's name was Chrissy or something like that and she took some REALLY awesome shots of me and Shane.  However, there were important shots that I know she took (we even have pictures of her TAKING the pictures) but they were missing when I went to pick out my 36 (we had the middle package).  She didn't have any of me and my dad walking down or any of just me and my sister.  I could understand if a few didn't turn out but she was snapping a lot!  I picked my 36 and they gave me a CD with those pics on them, then they mail you an album..... haven't got mine yet but it's only been about 3 weeks.  It's like $600 to get the CD of ALL your pics.

A couple other things:

Me and Shane did the symbolic ceremony and I brought my entire script.  Lucy was great and had no problem reading it.  We signed a certificate after and totally forgot to grab it.  Would have been a nice keepsake.

We bought a Bose sound system for $450 to use for the reception and ceremony but when we tested it the night before, it was not nearly loud enough with the waves crashing in the background.  We rented the sound system for $300 or $350 whatever it was.  We did use the Bose for the song I walked down to though which saved us from renting a second set of speakers for $170.  We didn't have a mic but and had 33 guests so I'm pretty sure people at the back couldn't hear anything.  Now that I look back we could have had people way closer to us; the chairs started quiet a ways back.  That might have solved it.

Went to the sports bar after and had to wait like 20 minutes til they started music but we had a blast.  They wouldn't play our iPod but they played good music. I actually think another bride beat me to the iPod thing. There was another wedding the same night on the beach but there were only about 5 of them in the sports bar as compared to 35 of us.

That's all I can think of for now!

Congratulations!!!  Can't wait to see pictures! Are you posting a review?

I'm surprised they didn't deliver your wedding "certificate" to your room. Maybe email the wedding coordinator to see if they can send it to you. I know it's not the legal document, but you're right - a nice thing to have. A similar thing happened with my vows. I had them written out on a card & then put the it down on the table after saying them - DH saw Lucy pick them up so they wouldn't blow away, but after that they disappeared. We wrote her a note before we left & also emailed but she didn't remember even picking them up. Whatever. Not a huge deal, but DH wanted to keep them so I felt a little bad.

And it's good to know about the bose speakers. A lot of people have been wanting to use them, but for whatever reason they didn't end up doing it (myself included) so it's nice to have someone report back about it. And now you have an awesome sound system for home :)

I'm also glad that Lucy was able to just read what you brought. Do you think it was obvious it was not legal (to your guests I mean). Did you still do vows and stuff? Were you able to contact her before you arrived?

Thanks!

We did the symbolic ceremony & it was definitely not obvious it wasn't legal. Even our parents, who were with us at our legal NYC ceremony the week before, considered our PV wedding to be the real deal. It just had so much more emotion & meaning to us and that really shined through. I'm sure the wedding coordinator can give you Lucy's email address. We didn't meet her, or even contact her, before our ceremony and it was totally fine. Better than fine, she did a fantastic job & made us feel special.

She said that she could figure out details but she left and now no one is replying! if at all possible could some one give me the new WC email.. Thanks :)

p.s. Congrats on the wedding! LOVED the video!!

cborsa...the email address is still the same as when Rebeca was there (weddings.drepv@dreamsresorts.com). I spoke with Louise last week who said that they are dealing with weddings in order of priority (date occurring) so since yours isn't until May you may not get very much response until the New Year (Feb-Mar). I didn't hear much over most of the Fall, but since my wedding is only 4 weeks away I'm starting to correspond with the WC more frequently. If there is something you need a response to immediately, type URGENT in the subject and you'll likely get a faster response (but only do if it really is urgent as they are super busy since it's peak wedding season...from what I've heard that's Oct-May).

In regards to your fiance, try contacting Patricia Romo with Incredible Wedding & Events (http://www.vallartaincredibleweddings.com/) as this is who is coordinating our legal marriage (blood tests, prenup course, booking judge for ceremony, etc) and she may be able to help you with your questions regarding the embassy, etc. Her email address is:  patty-weddings@hotmail.com.

Good luck and relax... it'll all come together woot.gif

We used the Bose for me to walk down to as well as for the cocktail hour because you only get 3 hours out of the speaker rental.  It was good for those two things because we didn't need the music super loud.  But to create a party/dancing atmosphere I would definitely rent the speakers.  There was a wedding the night before ours on the terrace with no music at all and it looked ridiculously boring!  We actually returned the Bose to future shop when we got back (!) because we *barely* even used it and already have a sweet surround system in our house as well as a cheaper portable one.

It wasn't obvious that the vows weren't legal, but by the end of our trip, most of the guests knew anyways but no one cared.  They knew we considered it our actual wedding day.  Don't worry about emailing your vows, I just brought a printed set with me and gave it to the WC the day before who forwarded it to Lucy.

We originally were planning to have our ceremony and reception at the Seaside Beach, however, from photos it looks like the Oceana beach may be more private. Can anyone give me some feedback on this as we'd like to have the most private spot as possible (we realize there will be other people on the beach, but as far away from pools, palapas, etc would be nicest).

Thanks a ton!!

Hi Ladies!

Quick question for you all:

Samantha confirmed my date and venues in an email after I sent in the request form and my credit card info, etc. That was over a month ago but I checked my credit card statement, and my $500 deposit hasn't been deducted.

How did you guys receive confirmation? Was there documentation? Something to sign?

I'm getting worried that Samantha said I'm confirmed, but really I'm not. I emailed her, but of course as a June bride I'm low priority and haven't heard back.

Thanks in advance for any insight!

i never received any kind of documentation and didn't sign anything until i got there, but that was almost 3 years ago already....so things have probably changed. i do remember worrying a lot b/c i had nothing in writing, but that was just another reason for me to print all of the emails and bring them w/ me.

I reserved and gave my credit card info in early June 2010 for our January 2011 wedding, but didn't received a confirmation from Rebeca until September 25, 2010 that it had finally been applied (then the charge showed up a couple days later). She did however confirm via email the day after I sent in the wedding request form and deposit in June that the date was being held for us and the confirmed the locations for ceremony & reception.

The only thing we've signed is the credit card authorization form that we sent via email in June so the email confirmation that the spot is being held is as good as it gets. If you are worried about it I'd email Louise the new WC and put "Urgent" in the subject, then just ask her to confirm you are booked and inquire when the charge is expected to go through... she will like get back to you shortly after.

Mexico works on their time, which is typically a lot slower than us Canadians / Americans who are rush, rush, rush (which is why they sometimes can be soooooo slow getting to things, but they mean well, it's just their culture to be more relaxed). It should all be just fine and I think that the new WC will be great and since she is a Canadian she understands that most brides getting married there aren't going to be ok with waiting till last minute to confirm things so will do her best to get back to you in a timely manner (plus she said she has an assistant so hopefully that helps too)!

Good Luck!!!!cheers.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
