DREAMS PUERTO VALLARTA "thread"

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone is choosing the package that comes free with 7 nights stay and choosing the rest ala carte?  I originally booked the ultimate package but since I am going to have over 20 guests and they charge more per guest for food over 20, it doesn't seem to save much money using the package.  We are using our own photographer so we don't want the resorts or the mariachi band or the spa extras.  We may just take over a restaurant instead of a sit down dinner but I do want a cocktail party and dancing.  Did anyone just pay for a cocktail service?  I was going to ask Rebeca how much they charge for just a cocktail party with hors d'oeuvres service.

We went with the free package. I believe you have to book 7 nights or more in the junior suite. We are doing everything al a carte, because we are having about 40-50 people and it was much more reasonable to do it that way. We are bringing our own photog also, and we are also cutting out the cocktail hour to save some money.

Are you having a sit down dinner?  Can I ask what they charged you for the reception per person?

Yes. We are having a reception at Las Palamas Terrace(by the pool). Earlier in my planning Rebeca said that without the cocktail hour it would be $40pp for dinner. It is $55pp with the cocktail hour. We are having a "Welcome Bonfire" instead of a rehearsal dinner. It is much more reasonable option.

Thanks Crystal!  I think we are going to do the same thing.  How much was the welcome bonfire?  We are going to do that but I haven't received a quote yet from Rebeca.  Did you get any rates on a buffet dinner instead of a sit down?  I read on here somewhere that it was more expensive which is strange because I think they would use less staff etc. for a buffet.

You guys will absolutely LOVE the bonfire!! It was so much fun & everyone had a great time! You won't miss not having a rehearsal dinner at all. And depending on what night you're having it, people can either eat together or separately at the theme night & then come to the bonfire after.

I know some people are considering having music - we didn't, which turned out to be fine b/c it was pretty loud on the beach. At one point we tried to make a short speech thanking everyone for coming, but no one could really hear us over the waves.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
