I almost wanted to say forget it, we will stay somwhere else but we have 27 rooms booked and it would just be too much trouble to have everyone switch. Im just trying not to worry about it and it will all work out.

You do need to check online everyday though to see if anyone cancels.  Even if the suite is the only one open, they should allow you to book that night.

SO our deposit was charged. It's 100% official.

For anyone who had booked when the outside vendor fee was already in place ($500 for 50 people plus $500 deposit, etc), did they charge it? What if we fly our photog in and they are a guest? I know we have all discussed thes ad nauseum....but it seems most brides who recently brought someone in booked before that rule was in set in stone, so the fee got waived. We are just trying to figure out what is most economical (as far as not using the resort's photog).

Anyone have any exciting news of their own?

Hi gowiththeflow,

It looks like we're going to be there at the same time.  My wedding date is April 10th!

How fun! Where are you having it? And wow! You have people booked already? That's awesome. You must be more on top of things than me! We are such slackers(meaning the FI and myself)

I've personally never been to Mexico and reading the State Dept. report made me a little uneasy, even though I know most resort towns are very safe. It's still a little scary to think about!

I have been to Puerto Vallarta twice.  Once we stayed at Dreams, where we are getting married, and the other time we rented a condo.  I felt completely safe.  We went to town probably 4 times when we stayed at Dreams, even at night we had no problems.  When we rented our condo we were right on the Malecon, went to Andale's, til about 2 am and walked back to the condo without incident.  I did not see any travel warnings for PV, most of the violence seems to be contained to boarder towns and some in the central regions.  There have been a few incidents in some resort towns but I am unaware of any in PV.  We are keeping a close eye on this as well.  But I believe that we will be OK in PV.wink.gif

When researching destinations for our wedding I read all of the travel warnings and concerns expressed from both travellers and government. Even though there are some warnings for PV we have no concerns for our safety! When I was there a few years back there was zero issues. My parents have gone many times without incident, my 65+ year old aunt has gone every year for the past 12 years and one of our groomsmen has a condo there and they all feel safe!

I think that as a tourist in ANY city (US, Canada, Mexico - anywhere!) you need to be smart. This means no walking alone late at night, no flashing money around, no illegal activity.

We are all going to have an amazing time in PV at our weddings!

Can't wait!!

So here's a question, probably more for the brides who have already been married. How did you pay for the wedding once you were there? I'm assuming most people use a credit or bank card. Did they charge in pesos or US? We are wondering because we paid the deposit ($500) and were charged a service fee because the hotel charged us in the peso equivalent, so then the credit card company had to convert.  We do know it was on the resort's end, because we recently used the same card in Playa del Carmen and did not have this happen because they charged us in US dollars.

Obviously for small amounts, it's not a huge deal, but when we will be paying thousands, that could be an extra few hundred! We just want to be prepared!

Oh and our website is mostly finished  :www.danielleandbrett.com

we still have to add an RSVP section, which will be pain because we have to build it on our own since we did not use a template with one.  Good thing Brett is a programmer....now if I can get him to actually do it!!

Thanks Lauren! Yeah, it all depends what the exchange rate at the time is if we will be too upset. Ill make sure I ask Rebecca beforehand.  Lauren, do you remember if Dreams had supplies for centerpieces( I know they have votives and flowers and stuff) like silver beads or stones to put in the votives? I want an accent of silver in the centerpieces and flowers, so thinking ahead of what I need to bring.

This thread is so quiet lately! Anyone have news? Maybe all the brides that were so active before got married and are gone (well most!)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
