Random q:  does Dreams have where if you have the balcony door open your a/c shuts off?  If yes, has anyone tried the "magic magnet" trick?

Yes, the a/c shuts off if you have your door open, though we did this and didn't notice a difference in the room temp when we came back in. We didn't leave it open for hours on end, but maybe 1/2 hour or so. Didn't try the magic magnets, but I've heard that those work.

I am getting married at Dreams PVR on 12/11/10. I booked the Ultimate wedding package and I'm going to have over 20 people.......how much was it for the over the limit??

Hi everyone! I've spent the past few days reading through this entire thread and it's so helpful!

 

My fiancee and I are planning on getting married at Dreams this December (last minute, I know!). I'm still trying to decide between Dreams PV or Dreams Los Cabos, but I'm leaning towards PV. My TA is in contact with the WCs at both resorts, and both resorts have my date open. If we end up at PV, would anybody recommend using Dazzling Details? Their portfolio is amazing, and after looking at their stuff, I feel like I would have a hard time making such a beautiful wedding and reception with the WC from the hotel! At the same time, DD is quite expensive! Does anybody have advice for me since I'm just starting this (late) wedding planning?

Congrats! It's all on the Dreams website - even has extra costs of things...short answer is $55.

 

So we did contact a few TAs and the quote is $150-$200 more expensive than anything I have found on my own. Where is everyone finding these great deals from TAs? I do like the idea of everyone booking through one person; and I know most TAs will price match. But what is the point of doing all the work yourself and just having someone else book it?  Yeah, yeah, I know the point - less people bugging ME with their questions! LOL

 

How has everyone's flights with Mexicana worked out? I love flying with them, so hopefully they get their act together! Im also a bit disapointed that Im having a hard time finding cheap flights that are direct. Im very spoiled from flying direct to Cancun every year!

I am not personally using DD, but have read nothing but amazing reviews! Also, I am in a contest right now to win invitations from them - they are starting to make invites as well as coordinate. Kristin has been awesome and even contacted me when some votes were not submitted correctly - and even emailed EVERY single person to tell them! I think that speaks for itself! I don't know...we may have to find some funds to spend on their planning services!

I'm so tempted to up the budget and use them, but I think I can make do with the WC from the hotel. Does anyone else have any safety concerns about PV? I've personally never been to Mexico and reading the State Dept. report made me a little uneasy, even though I know most resort towns are very safe. It's still a little scary to think about!

We got our STDs today! They are pretty nice, the colors were brighter online, but overall I am happy!

 

SO our deposit was charged. It's 100% official.

 

For anyone who had booked when the outside vendor fee was already in place ($500 for 50 people plus $500 deposit, etc), did they charge it? What if we fly our photog in and they are a guest? I know we have all discussed thes ad nauseum....but it seems most brides who recently brought someone in booked before that rule was in set in stone, so the fee got waived. We are just trying to figure out what is most economical (as far as not using the resort's photog).

 

Anyone have any exciting news of their own?
