DREAMS PUERTO VALLARTA "thread"

Recommended Posts

We had a symbolic ceremony as well. Got married at the marriage bureau in NYC on 5/21 & left for PV on the 24th. We had our parents & 1 couple as our witnesses. My FIL said that he had considered our legal day to be our actual wedding, but that once he got down to the beach & the ceremony started he totally changed his mind to seeing our vision and realizing that the PV wedding was the real one. It was so much more meaningful & heartfelt to us and it just showed!

I posted my ceremony script in that thread too. We didn't want a religious ceremony either so I put ours together by combining bits of other people's and stuff I found online. It was exactly what we wanted.

And Mel, I know it's hard to wait, but everything will work out! As Kat suggested, just write down all of your concerns/questions, maybe in a Word document, so you're organized when you contact her. Honestly, everything really happens in the last month & some things don't happen til you get there (like picking flowers, cake, etc) so you'll be fine!

Hello all Dreams brides...past and future!! I'm new to this forum...well I've spent hours reading all the posts in this thread, but other than my Newbie introduction this is my first post. I've just secured our date of February 28, 2011 at Dreams PV and we are soooo excited! Rebeca has been wonderful to work with so far, and we have chosen PhotoShoots Vallarta (Eva Sica) as our photographer. She has been awesome and so responsive. Other than that, still working with TA to get our rooms booked and flight details worked out.

We aren't expecting a grand affair, mainly our 2 daughters who will be 13 and 16, my mom, and his parents. If friends come that is absolutely wonderful. I'm thinking instead of a reception (we are doing a big one back home when we return) that after the ceremony we will do our family pictures and then our TTD session, then possibly a bonfire on the beach instead of a formal reception. Just thoughts right now. :)

Anyway, I want to thank all of you for sharing so much information that I literally am planning most of wedding from this site, but this Dreams thread in particular!!! So thank you Dreams brides...you are absolutely AWESOME!!!

Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Hugs

Michelle

Welcome Michelle- It sounds great and bonfires are always a lot of fun!

So just another idea.....

Have you looked into any of the wedding packages the resort offers? Some of the packages include everything from the flowers to cocktail hour and reception for a pretty reasonable price and you can have it right on the beach. (not sure how many guests are included- I think like 20) It might be more economical than buying everything individually. You can ck it out at:

Hi Michelle! Welcome to the forum :o)

Sounds like you have the perfect attitude for an awesome DW. The bonfire on the beach is way cool (one of the best decisions that we made), but I agree that you might check into the weding packages as they are so economical. I bet they would add a bonfire to a beach reception if you talked with the WC.

Happy Monday everyone!

Hi girls! I was wondering if any of the november brides have any open rooms in their group room blocks. I am in need of one room from nov 19-nov 22 and they are completely sold out! Im super frustrated as no websites have them available (on dreams website I could get the penthouse for 1700 for one night, ummm no thanks). Let me know if anyone has ideas. I am thinking of asking some of FI's family to double up as three of them have singles.

Hi ladies! This forum has been a little quiet lately, so I thought I would add something! Well, we booked our room today, so hopefully our deposit will be charged soon. We are so excited and it feels a lot more real now.

We have been going back and forth about sending STDs. We were thinking this: it seems from other brides, a lot of people start booking once they get the STDs. So why send both? Why not send just an invite (with a ton of info) earlier than usual. We do have a website and were thinking we could direct people there as well. Plus we just don't know when to start sending everything. I looked at the thread that discusses it, but everyone has a different opinion, so who knows? Our date is April 9, 2011. Any opinions or suggestions?

Also, we are not using a TA. We have found that rates we find online are cheaper. Plus the room block rate Dreams gave us is still a few hundred more than what we have found. Our one problem: I was looking for rates for for my future SILs. They both have babies that will be 1 and 2. Every online search engine says infants are not allowed in the old tower. I know this is not true. I emailed dreams, but no response. They would want a deluxe room to save $$. I wonder if they could just book one and then add on the infant on arrival?

Ok, I guess that's enought for now! Hope everyone's planning is going good.

chicago: That sucks!!! We've had a hard time getting our group booked as well because it is soooo busy in November. We're there the week before you and I think that if people haven't booked yet, they might be in for the same surprise. Craziness! I also can't believe you have 60 people booked!! That's awesome!

gowiththeflow: from what I've heard, there is an "adults only" SECTION in the old tower, but not the whole thing. Good luck!

On another note, is anyone paranoid that they're group is going to arrive there and the hotel won't have some people on the listhuh.gif We booked through a separate TA and I kinda want to email Rebeca to get her to check into all our reservations......

chicago ~ have you tried contacting a TA to see if they have any available rooms? They also might be able to tell you what company might be holding rooms and when they would be released...

flow ~ my BIL stayed in the old tower with his 1 year old. They booked through our TA because the rates were waaaay cheaper than Dreams or any of the travelocity, expedia, etc. sites. You might have you SILs check with a TA to see what they say about the babies.

As for Save the Dates and Invitations, do what makes sense for you and your group. We only sent about 70 Save the Dates, but 170 Invitations becuase the invites included the AHR. We had 50 of our best friends and family with no drama at the DW. That's just what worked for us...

april ~ personally I wouldn't worry. We had one guy who didn't book a room and just added on to a single when he got there. I started to freak over it, but then took a step back and realized that he is a grown up and should be able to handle a vacation. If you are worried, you might try hitting up the concierge to check on the bookings, but there is a chance that the TA hasn't sent in the names yet.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
