Do any of my guests know what RSVP Means (Venting)

Recommended Posts

It is such a relief to know that it is NORMAL for guest to procrastinate on RSVPing. I am running into the same issues as everyone else. My FI and I have decided not to worry. I will be sending out emails and postcards next week reminding everyone of the deadline. I will send out a "last call" email around mid October and then we will finalize our list of guest.

I took an informal poll of my friends, to find out why they haven't send it back, and it ranged from "I thought my wife did it", "You knew we are coming", "you already know we aren't coming", or...this is the best one..."I liked your boarding pass invite so much, i didn't want to tear off the post-card". It would be different if I thought that all the people that didn't RSVP are no's - but I've run into a few of them recently, and they said they were still deciding to come. VERY FRUSTRATING!!! I've put a lot of work into the OOT bags...based on what I knew was my count - if that changes....then some of those late rsvp'ers might not be getting koozies, pashmina's and sudoku books..and frankly it serves them right!!!!

Are you experiencing this too?
I believe we are all experiencing the same. I sent 75 invites. I have only received 6 responses back. I know over 60 people are going. This weekend I will call those that are still not sure if they are going because of the increase in airfare.

when is your wedding date?  I was wondering how far before the wedding people are requesting an RSVP?

I am having the same problem I have 2 months left before my wedding and I have many guest that haven't rsvp. It's hard b/c I am taking flip flops and welcome bags and it gets hard not having a final count. I recently sent an email reminder for everyone to mail out their RSVP checking Yes we are attending or Regrets not attending. I got a few back, and other people email me their answer and other guest never replied. So I assumed it's because they are not attending. Well in my bridal shower I had people saying they are attending or might attend. It's very hard so I totally understand what you are going through.

Glad to know I'm not the only one! Mine isn't quite so bad as we have sent out boarding pass STDs and have asked for an RSVP, just for an idea of numbers. We sent out 140 STDs and have had around 20 back. They were sent out in August, with a deadline of 1st November. Unless we have 120 responses in the next 3 weeks, I'll be doing some chasing.

Some of FI's friends have said they didn't think they had to return the slip. Why do they think we included a self addressed envelope? Idiots.

I have trouble getting people to RSVP if I am having a party or get together at my house or a restaurant.  I am already waaay prepared to have to "gently" remind people (aka harass/stalk, lol) to find out if they intend to travel for the wedding.

what is it with people these days and their inability to rsvp for anything?! it's like they assume that you know what their intentions are.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
