Hi everyone - thanks to Loni's recommendation, I checked out Baja Raiders and booked them for our fishing trip during our wedding week. They responded to my email immediately and later followed up with a call to confirm reservation. Judy sounded american and was super nice. They required a credit card to hold the reservation but do not charge a deposit unless you are a no show. They also sent a confirming email right after we spoke. I thought their prices were reasonable as compared to others. This is their website: Cabo Boats - Cabo San Lucas Sport Fishing Charters Thanks again for the recommendation Loni!!

My dad, fiance, and I chartered a boat with Picante Bluewater Sportfishing. Link to their website: Picante Bluewater Sportfishing

My Dad paid about $1,000 for 6 AM - 1 PM. That included boat, gas, bait, and beer. We caught three stripers, mine was the larget at 170 lbs! :)

I highly recommend them, the deck hands and captain were very knowledgeable, funny, and put us on the fish!

We are going back in August to do site visits (I have not picked one yet for my wedding!) and to fish with Picante again! :)

Hi everyone - just wanted to report back on my experience with Baja Raiders. Everything went smoothly (except for the waves). We booked their 10 person boat the Muchacho Alegre for 8 hours. As I stated before Judy was great - responded quickly to any email and provided a detailed confrimation email. Cost was $950 for the boat and then you could add (which we did) $30 pp for license, lunch, beer, soft drinks and bait (the all-inclusive package I suppose). The owner of Baja Raiders met us at the dock, walked us to the boat and got us our licenses. The crew was very nice and all business - we immediately went looking for marlin and caught a 175 striped marlin after only 2 hours. Unfortunately we had a couple guests get seasick (all those who took dramamine were fine but my sister who is prego couldn't take it) so we cut the trip early. We thought the Muchacho Alegre was a great fishing boat - ample cabin space inside for all of us to sit in there while it was cold early in the morning and space for about 6 people up top to sit where the captain is. The captain was a pro at reversing engines to help bring in the marlin too - that was super fun! This was one of the few boats I found for a reasonable price for capacity for more than 6-8 people. I would definitely use Baja Raiders and the Muchacho Alegre again.

Maybe a little expensive but he said those guys were all business and didn't piss around. Between the 2 boats they caught 4 marlin, and 4 dorado.

We went on our own another time and were supposed to get a 33 foot boat, and they stuck us with a 28 foot boat. Cost was $250 for the two of us. Then the captain only wanted to fish for mackeral so we were along the beach the whole time. My husband convinced him to go deeper so we could get some big fish, and then they just sat on the top of the boat and did nothing. The lines were tangled for like 10 minutes, and they weren't even watching them. My husband was not impressed at all, and it was a waste of a day. We got hooked up through Picante at the marina. It sucked. Sometimes a bargain in Mexico isn't the best plan!

Thanks for the info Loni, we are also looking for a fishing charter $1100 is a good price for 2 boats.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
