How could I be so scatterbrained?

So, I get home from work today and somehow manage to lock my keys in my car - can we say blond moment? smile105.gif My keys are sitting on the seat and my purse and wallet are out in the open on the passenger seat ....

First, my fiance is out of town working right now, so I can't just get him to let me in and get the spare key to my car. I live in a condo, so the first thing I do is check to see if the strata president is home as she has access to a lock box with spare keys. Of course, she isn't home. So, I find a neighbour coming home from walking their dog, introduce myself and ask if I can borrow a phone. Luckily, she is nice and we go back to her place and lets me in.

I call my parents, who have a spare key and my Dad (who is luckily at home) drives out to my place with the spare set of keys and lets me in. We search high a low for the 2nd key to my car that my fiance has and it's nowhere to be found. I'm guessing he took it with him. Why? I have no idea as he can't drive my car when he is out of town.

So, the phone number for the auto assistance I have is through my dealership and the phone number is in the manual for the car, which is locked in my glove box. I stupidly thought that I would likely only ever use it if my car broke down .... So, I try calling the dealership as it's Friday night and they should be open late, right?? Nope. Luckily their answering machine gives the phone number to call. So I call that. They can't find me in the database at first. I'm speaking to a guy in Quebec I can barely understand through the thick accent. We finally get on the same page and they're dispatching a BCAA truck to assist.

I hope I don't have to wait too long. Thanks for letting me vent! I thought this would be a great weekend as I was finally getting around to dress shopping and am hoping to find "the dress". It can only get better, right?

It seems as though my friend, Murphy, has shared his law with you as well lol Oh my, I have LOTS of days like these, and I just think "Why am I so stupid?" But when you've got a wedding on your mind, along with the 50-million other everyday things, letting things slip your mind gets much easier than before lol Just take a deep breath, go inside and have a nice cup of tea and laugh at yourself for having a "duh" moment lol Like I always say, "What else can I do but laugh at this point? I could cry I suppose, but I'd much rather laugh, and who better to laugh at than myself?"

DH did the same thing last night!! he thought it would be a quick fix by just calling triple a... not so much. apparently his membership was canceled (although his card clearly says the membership is good until 2010)!! something about being an associate member under his parents, and then once you turn a certain age they cancel it without warning. i have no idea, i don't have AAA, and never will. [hooray for geico roadside assistance and hyundai roadside assistance]

but anyway! it seems like easy problems can never really be "easy"!! maybe this just means you got your "DUH! moment" over with early for this year cheesy.gif

best of luck on the dress hunt!!

you are right- it will only get BETTER wink.gif

Last time I did that was at 10 pm last year during the Dec "snowstorm" at lougheed walmart - with my purse, cell phone everthing in the car and the car was running and almost out of gas...so at least it wasnt winterhuh.gif

Glad it all worked out in the end.

I had a similar event aroudn the holiday time. I lost the keys to my apartment, but unfortunately, I was the key keeper of the building.

My FI had already left town for the holidays, and the management company was closed for the evening. I called my manager at work just in case, and thankfully, he found the keys in the corner of the office. That was close!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
