For the cocktail hour I honestly don't remember. We had shrimp skewers and that is all I remember. I do know that we ran out of food... so it must have been good? For the dinner we had, Surf and turf, some seafood soup I can't remember what it was called, scallops, and creme brulle. (sp) The food was really amazing. I didn't have a buffet because we only had 23 people. I can't remember if there was a salad or not. Seriously it flew by so fast! I can't hardly remember most of the details. They did let me pick and choose different things from the menu's!

Another small question for you - did they put table numbers on the tables for you or did you have to bring table numbers with you?
I didn't use table numbers. But you would have to bring them with you. I gave her a seating chart and all the place cards and she put them out. (Gaby put them out wrong though) But I am sure after the ass chewing she got from Claudia she will get her shit together.

Kat, quick question for you. You had the sound system for the ceremony, but was someone manning the system, or did you havee to have one of your family members play all the music and stuff? If they did provide someone to run the equipment, is it easy to communicate with them to tell them exactly when you want the music to start? I want to bring a CD down because we are having non-traditional songs for our entrance and exit, so I just want them to be able to play the music when I want them to. Thanks Kat, you have been a huge help on here!!! For EVERYONE!!!

No problem, I know how frustrating it can be. There is someone there to man the station. My husband dealt with it though. We had an IPOD with a playlist for the ceremony. I had a song for the boys to walk in to, a song for the bridesmaids, a song for me. A song for the signing of the certificate (which you totally don't need) and a song for the exit. I guess my husband had our friend go over there for the ceremony but he left after the walk in songs were over and sat down. They did a good job on their own. I would just have your husband specify to them exactly what you want before the wedding. The music was really important to me too.

Oh, I completely forgot about this! So Kate, you bought your own ipod docking system and play during ceremony? Do you need to tell Gaby ahead of time to make sure someone is there to help the station?

I've heard many people said it would be too windy at the Gazebo and no one can hear a word you say in front of the officiant, is it true?

We used our IPOD docking station at the reception. For the ceremony we got the sound system from the hotel. There was someone there to do it for us. I really think you should get it because the waves are sooo loud and I don't care how many people you have they still won't hear it. Our officiant was too far away for us to use the freakin' microphone we paid for so they couldn't hear our vows but they could hear him loud and clear.

...just a thought. You would think that with these people doing a wedding a day for several years in a row that they would know how to work this whole thing and be a little more organized with "planning" peoples weddings. Based on the sound of what everyone has said, everything turns out nice, but these vendors and resort planners are a bunch of idiots. If Dreams Cancun wasnt such a beautiful place, I'd be going elsewhere!! OK, Im done being bitchy :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
