With our wedding package we have the option of an hour for a caribbean trio or mariachi band. I'm thinking about using the one I choose to play for the ceremony because I cannot find anything I want to walk down the aisle to. The only problem is...which one? What is really difference between music? Of course, I'd like something nice and soft for my walk down the aisle but I keep seeing a mariachi band as an up in your face kinda music you see in movies, lol.

Any help from someone who has done this before?

The Mariachi will be a 5-8 piece band that will play more festive music... however for a wedding I would imagine they'd play appropriate music.
I had the trio for my cocktail hour and it was very nice.
I think either way you'd be happy. The only question is, if you get a free hour... do you really want to use it for your ceremony where they'll only play for 10 minutes? Or would you rather have a cocktail hour where they'll play the whole time?

Well, our ceremony would be about 15 minutes long. So I was thinking we could use them for that and have them play for the cocktail hour as well, just shorten it a little bit.

That could work... but I think they'd have to be set up before the wedding, and then an hour is typically actually only a 40 minute set with a break.
So maybe to get your monies worth you should have them play before the ceremony while guests are arriving, being seated, and then the ceremony?

Like most bands... they will have a wide range of music they play. A nice guitar playing could do the trick!
        Good luck
